Paul, to me one of the most important things you've done is sharing much of your expertise with younger people, and the public in general. I hate when someone spends their life discovering, learning and refining certain techniques, only for all that incredible knowledge and skill to inevitably get lost one day. I have a lotta respect for people like you who are willing to share so openly. Thank you.

Glad to hear you’re continuing to get better, and still able to share the knowledge you have mastered over the years. One thing I’d love to hear about is your involvement in the observed trials community and the different trials projects you’ve worked on over the years. My father has a ‘67 Mountain Cub, and we both really enjoyed following the build, and would love to hear an update on yours. Thanks Paul and Mitch, keep getting better and thanks for all the amazing content! ❤

Excellent - wishing you all the luck in your wellness path. I like the idea of the shop talk, and the organisation part too. Would there be any mileage in having guest shoprats, that not only talk, but maybe prep some little project, or show us their tips and tricks, and even compare them with how you would tackle a particular problem? I'm open to any and all of it - we don't just tune in to watch a shop, we tune in for your personality, experience, knowledge and wisdom. 💪

Happy to see an update and I hope you get well fast and beat that cancer! Maybe on top of shop flow videos you could do a deep dive into your shop tools and "furniture" explain why your main workbench was built the way it was and why you chose the vise on it, what's in the cabinet for your mill, why you own the things you do and how they work for you. Another idea could be Mitch being your hands and building things as you guide him through the process, could be fun to watch you teach someone how to make the things you want to be making.

Just keep on video making Paul, I am not that interested in cycling these days but your machining skills and seeing what goes into design and manufacture of parts is fascinating( the Aermachii is superb but the lady of the house wont let me ride again). I am due to retire soon and also suffer health problems(why are all medications diuretics!!!!!!!!!!) limiting my activities but thanks to yourself, Diesel Creek, farmer John and many other you tubers I bought a lathe to speed up my own projects, an Ariel VB600(no chance of a speeding there then) a vintage Allen motorised scythe and a Saab 96 - I will finish something one day - not worth working on any vehicle under 40yrs old in the UK as we are still burdened with EU type approval limiting modifications for road going stuff. I shall get you a Coffee

So happy to see you in a video again it's always a pleasure to watch your content Even if you can't go into your shop and do work right now it would be so therapeutic for you to be there that is your special place it means so much more to you than most regular people could understand I myself am a mechanic And after my heart procedure I wasn't able to go back to work immediately but it was so healing and normal feeling to go into my own garage lay hands on my motorcycle and look around and see all my things and to stand in the sun leaning on my old truck So if you have to have a friend put a recliner in your shop until you are ready to work and spend some time even if it's just sitting and looking

Really good to see another video from you. It’s a great sign that you are feeling somewhat better. I really like the teaching aspect of the channel. I’ve watched lots of other channels where people weld things. I’m not a welder myself, but when I watch your videos I really feel like I’m in your class and I’m learning how to actually do things. Similarly, I really like to watch the design process. I have a 3D printer and try and design things rather than just download a file and print. Watching you encourages me when I’m frustrated and feel like I don’t know what I’m doing. Just watching how you approach design make me feel like I’m learning something new, and I can go back and try again at another round of design. The stories are great. I’m on the North Shore and your name and Rocky Mountain Bicycles were so much a part of my childhood. It great hearing about the tools that have been with you on your journey. I’m a software developer, but after watching your videos, I moved out of my downstairs office and into my garage which I’ve converted into my lab. Now I’m 3D designing and printing. I’m soldering electronics together and building actual things. I designed and built a temperature and humidity sensor for monitoring filament. I’ve built my own webcam and system to grab Timelapse videos. Very very different from your shop but inspired by your channel. Thank you. Please stay well and continue sharing what you can.

All the best, Paul. I feel the same way as a shop person. Initially it's not a problem, later down the road it's a problem. Then I married a farmer and I built a huge shop on the farm, but now I don't have time to spend there. But what could you offer? I've always been fascinated about how some people can see the end result before they even do it...mostly related to the design aspect of what you do. Maybe a short discussion about that. How do you design stuff to be functional AND pretty? Also, I really would appreciate anything related to the shop, especially about the mindset and organizing

Hi Paul. Good to see you up and about. I hear you when you say that you and your shop are intertwined. As you know, I am much the same with my own shop - the difference being that I make stuff out of wood and you make stuff out of metal. But... a shop is a shop. I recall that when you first invited me to come over it was "to see my shop"... not "my house", "my yard" or "my things". Every time I have been over for a visit or to get some work done we end up visiting in your shop. Even of you're in the house when I get there we head immediately to the shop. It's your comfort zone and I get that 100% . Basically, it's your "kitchen table". Like you, I can be me in my shop and you can be you in your shop. I'm glad you can trundle out to your shop even if your meds won't let you "run heavy machinery". Just being surrounded by the stuff that makes your brain turn over is supreme comfort. I've often said that when I'm unable to do anything in my shop I'll still go out and sit there thinking about how I legendary I used to be. LOL!

While words like shop and fabrication evoke physical process, there is so much mental and emotional activity around that.. Many times I've tried to explain to people how vital it is for some to have a space like shop/atelier, no matter what you make, how much, and why.. If one is born under a sign of designer/fabricator, it is simply his/her life world. Anyway, stay strong Paul, thanks for the update.

Could you explain the down (to the rear) sloping top tube? I can see how, in mountain biking, it can give more clearance for your bits, but is this valid in road racing frames? It seems to just make the seat post longer and put a bending member where you have a lot of mass moving around. Is it just fashion in road frames? And the attachment of seat stays far down the seat tube, why would that be done? It makes the frame weaker, and introduces weird bending forces. Is that because carbon fibre frames are uncomfortably stiff and the manufacturers are trying to put some spring back into the frames?
