A little bit of what life is like with IBS. Multiple doctor visits, tests, scans, ect..ect without ever really getting any answers, other than... it's IBS. It's frustrating and at times, the symptoms are debilitating. Fun stuff! I hope this helps someone else!

My question is WHY do the doctors continue to say it's NOT RELATED to gallbladder removal??? Mine has been out for 19 years and I have had diarrhea since after the pain meds wore out of my system for the surgery. I'm truly over this SYSTEM Malfunction and I am needing a DOCTOR to actually care about the traumatic traumatizing side effects of this gallbladder removal. We all Deserve a normal LIFE!!! PLEASE HELP THOSE OF US THAT HAVE TO LIVE WITH THIS AFTER EVERY BITE OF FOOD OR EVEN A DRINK... I'm so glad you told your story, that's very strong of you. Let's hope we can get the attention we deserve to get the studied and help for us all.. 🙌🏼

Thank you for having the courage to share your story/testimony. I had my gallbladder removed last April & I have regretted it ever since. I deal with chronic constipation & upset stomach on a daily basis. I recently quit my job because I was tired of taking anti-diarrheals before my shifts so I wouldn't have to use the bathroom at work or while I was out. They only made my constipation worse. Living without a gallbladder & IBS feels so restrictive & difficult. My quailty of life has definitely took a nosedive but I remind myself that there are others out there that have been dealt worse cards than I have...

I am so sorry you're dealing with this... when I had my gallbladder removed I dealt with diarrhea right away but only had it in the morning... this lasted for 15 years until now, with all of the antibiotics and infections I've had, it's messed my gut up for real and I probably will have some kind of post infectious IBS afterwards. I do regret now 15 years later having it removed... the attacks were horrible though and sent me to the ER three times before they figured it out. My gallbladder had pretty much died, the walls were super thick and it wasn't working properly (ontop of having stones in it).

I felt like you were telling my story. I've been feeling hopeless lately and to hear you I know I'm not alone. Gallbladder out 3 yrs and now ibs constipation and diarrhea. A few times I felt normal and hopeful and then bam back to square one. I don't know what to eat anymore. I see a Nutritionalist who has been very helpful. All the other drs I've seen don't understand this disease, nor do they really care. "Eat more fiber"...blah blah....Bile salts help but next ya know your extremely constipated. Maddening. Thanks for sharing your experience, my heart truly goes out to you and everyone else trying to find a cure.

I am so sorry to hear your having similar issues. And ya, eating more fiber does not help... the bile binders, such as cholestyramine helped, but YES it's very tricky to find the right amount or a good inbetween. I've played with that medication for YEARS off and on, truing to figure out what works. Some days it's 1/2 a packet, other days a full packet. I've learned it depends on what you eat throughout the day.. so if it's a lot of fatty/fried stuff, then a full packet at night. If it was a light day, then maybe 1mg out of the packet (1/4th of a packet). I hope you find some relief and I totally, TOTALLY understand!

i had my gallbladder removed 9 years ago. The doctor just told me that it was just normal, only that the bile has no storage anymore and it just continues to drip. They failed to tell us that bile acid is more corrosive than the acid produced by our stomach when we are hungry. There's no topic or discussion about post gallbladder removal. They left us on our own device.

Haha, YES, bathroom within 2 seconds. So true. I have found that Cholestyramine is a great companion and has slowed my diarrhea from up to six emergency episodes in the morning, to almost a normal movement. I have juggled the elimination diets. I have had every test done known to GI science from an upper GI and colonoscopy, to liver scans, and bloodwork with no diagnosis. I also blame the gall bladder removal for causing the eruption of my PsA which has landed me on chemotherapy once a week. IBS from a lack of a gall bladder is a battle of life or death, yet they'll tell you that Cholecystectomy is safe and no one ever has complications from it. A-mazing! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for sharing your experience! I survived a country of long war, messed up family, death threats due to my job working for the USA contractors and the most damaging was extreme hunger caused by economic sanctions enforced on Iraq. Iraqis where hostages under control of a brutal regime. I ate one beans sandwich for the whole day sometimes while going to collage and working to support my family. All that effected my body and couldn't get any taller than 5'4 while i come from a family of giants. Five years ago i had my gallbladder removed after a long struggle with indigestion and pain attacks. The fist year after the surgery i felt better but starting 3 years ago the diarrhea intensified and my diet got smaller and smaller which made me lose about 20lbs. Now i feel very weak and trying to figure out a way to slow down my constant loose stool and to add more food so i can gain back some weight. I live in a cold climate which makes it really hard when body is so malnourished. The doctor never told me that there a chance that i will develop an extreme IBS. i feel your pain and it is so unfair to not being able to tolerate any fat. I'm experimenting with OX bile supplements and maybe fiber powder. I also leaned that the diarrhea can be a result of Bile acid Mabsorption (BAM) which can be managed something called Cholestyramine. God bless.
@TwoManyProjects
@TwoManyProjects 3 ай бұрын
Yup, I was diagnosed with BAM from the Mayo clinic (crazy thing, they are one of like three places in the US that will diagnose this... theres a simple test in the UK, but the USA won't use it). Bile binders do work and I have uesd them in the past.. I'm having to use one tonight actually.

The same mess started with me after my gallbladder was removed and I have been living through the same nightmare as you have been going through. Dieting in the same manner as you and I carry Imodium with me wherever I go. The doctors have not been helpful with diet specific information as I now have fatty liver disease and I happened upon the needed diets while on KZbin. My "allergy" list of foods, meds, and other things has become a two page "medical history" that I carry with me 24/7 so the emergency paramedics won't inadvertently end my life. So far I've made it to 74 years of age by the grace of God.

I used to have IBS. Sometimes the pain was so that I could not move. Bentyl helped greatly. No idea why it went away but now I have a new mystery GI problem. Ever since my liver transplant I'm nauseated every morning and cannot eat until noon. Ginger helps with the nausea but I still can't eat. Of course no one knows why or has any help for me. That along with really severe allergies, two kinds of arthritis, collapsed lumbar discs from the surgery, and scoliosis makes life difficult.... Not to mention the severe skin disorder from a chemo in 2007 that keeps me inside whenever it's 70° or higher. Best to you. Hope you get relief soon.💜🙏

You might have bile reflux and gastropathy or gastritis that has been caused by bile. So, my gallbladder removal caused bile malabsorption and back flow of bile into my stomach.. for years it didn't bother my stomach (upper stomach) but just gave me massive diarrhea daily.. which was normally finished in the morning, so I didn't have accidents throughout the day (I'm very blessed by that).. but years later, add a h pylori infection and that set things off! Sucralfate, 1gram in the morning and 1 gram at night has SAVED my stomach and has helped so much with the burning and pain I had in my upper/mid stomach area. I would look into this. Omeprozole and other PPI's will not help with bile reflux. And DO NOT get sucked into the 'natural' nor naturalpaths suggestions of adding ox bile... this does nothing but aggravate the problem!

The thing is the doctors lie to you about the operation and the aftermath. My brother was told that he had to have regular bowel screening for cancer. I was told nothing at all, just lived terribly some days, worse than others. IBS and diverticulitis I now have, just told to take Metamucil, but that is not always okay either. It's not something you want to tell people either. Diet makes no difference to me, but I hate gluten free, it tastes terrible. Just eat what you want, it just happens no matter what you do.

I had my gallbladder removed about 4 weeks ago. I’ve struggled so much the past 2,5 years trying to just exist and I lost almost 30kg of my weight 2022 because I couldn’t eat anything. The only thing doctors kept telling me was that I have IBS and needed therapy. My family has been so incredibly supportive and helpful, without them I doubt I would’ve made it. At last we changed hospitals and the new doctors sent me for a MRI and it showed sludge. Apparently I had a chronic infection in my gallbladder for a long time. I still have a lot of other symptoms that I believe are related to IBS. I really hope that doctors could just start to listen to us instead of make up assumptions. And they really need to educate themselves about this cause IBS and gallbladder diseases are not an uncommon combination. Thank you for opening up about your story and everyone else in these comments. You are incredibly strong and inspiring. We’re in this together. 🫶🏼

So I had my gallbladder taken out at the age of 9 and have had diarrhea since then. Been through the same ordeal since then. Developed fissures and hemorrhoids and been diagnosed with IBS-D. Had multiple colonoscopies and been told to just increase fiber (never has worked). I've finally just told my PCM to put me on a bile sequester so fingers crossed 🤞🏻 I also have gastritis (which can occur with bile reflux). Gut issues are never fun. No one enjoys talking about this stuff. It's even less enjoyable when you get the nerve to talk about it openly with a physician and they don't even attempt to find the underlying cause or a reasonable solution.

yup... that's what I had for years.. I'd pay to have that back, but I understand and a lot of people have diarrhea constantly after galbladder removal. 15 years! Docs dont care. They dont find anything so its not life or death. I wasnt offered any meds ro help at all even though theres stuff out there available. Im in bed sick 3-4 days a week. It absolutley dibilitating. I still have not figured all the foods that get ro me so its still a regular process for me. Ive been tested for so much! But nothing found. Im feeling so hopeless at ever feeling normal again. No one underatands either. Im constantly accused of trying to get attention. I was hospitalized 2 years ago with an intesesuption* (prob not spelled right) still even aftrr that i got no help. I tried veagan but cant tolerate the raw foods. I cant do milk at all! Garlic, onions, acidic foods are the biggest problems. I avoid them but still having issues on the regular. Im so skinny im scared for myself. If i eat too much i hurt! I never expected this life, and was never told this was possible. My gallbladder simply failed. Only releasing 10% of bile so it had to come out. No choice. Just wpuld have been nice to know from the beginning because it could have saved me so much pain the first 2 years after surgery. Im so happy i found this video! Thank you! Its nice to know im not alone! Does the ER actually do anything when you go in? Ive been there a few tines before i figured out myself whats going on and havent went back since because they always say "we dont see anything" except the one intesisuption which i had to stay and not eat for 4 days. Im already wayyyy already underweight and they think i just should stop eating all together until i feel better. But i also have that pass out feeling, cold sweats, uncontrollable shakes during BM's. Its so scary! Then my anxiety picks up and makes it even worse! Its like an endless cycle over and over.

Sadly, the ER doesn't do much.. the last time I passed out in my own house 4 times (the last time , or fourth time, I hit my head on the toilet) my husband called 911, they came and my bp was super low. Drank some water, gave me an IV there at the house for fluids, then as they were asking me what hospital I'd like to go to, I came to (started feeling better and was able to stand without passing out) I told them I wouldn't go to a hospital and signed a waver stating I released them of any culpability and staid home. I only go now to the ER if I can't control my pain and need a stronger opioid. But I've been working with a new GP who's perscribed me pretty much everything under the sun to help with pain.. so now I don't need to go to the ER for pain control either..... this is all scary and I will say not suggested to not go in if you have sever pain that isn't familiar.

The only thing that settled me down was going on Keto, but after many years of high fat (still getting dirrhea, just no cramping/urgency) my liver has told me it can't take all the fat anymore. So I'm back to low fat and just have to be mindful of fatty meals as they come along. I thought I held the answer, but it turns out I didn't.

Had such bad Inflammation that my gallbladder was removed. Recently tested positive for H Palori. I'm currently getting tested for Sibo today. Also Bile salts before each meal helped me. I've been Bloated 24/7 for 5 year's! It was so painful and It was so frustrating to me. I'am so thankful I didn't accept that was only IBS. I'm so extremely excited to feel normal and better. I'll need to take Bile salts for the rest of my life. After treatment for all the bad over growth Bacteria I have. Will need to take probotics and low fod map diet to heal my gut. I was fine until I had my gallbladder removed. My bowels never normalized after. I was later diagnosed with IBS. I am currently dealing with chronic inactive gastritis, that will not go away. Even with cutting a lot of foods and drinks. It’s been 6 months. No one can tell me why the gastroenterologist told me to stress less and take omeprazole and sucralfate.
@TwoManyProjects
@TwoManyProjects 8 ай бұрын
Stress can (although, studies have proven stress doesn't cause gastritis or ulcers, but does contribute to excessive acid secretions) aggravate gastritis. The best, BEST thing I did for my gastropathy (same as gastritis, except no local inflammation where the gastropathy patches are found) was to take sucralfrate. Once in the morning and once right before I go to bed. I've noticed more of a difference on that than I have with ANY other medication for that issue. If you've had your galbladder removed, more than likely the gastritis is being caused by bile as well, so omeprozole or other PPI's will not help with the bile. Bile sequestriants will.. such as cholestyramine.

I have this pain in my rt upper quadrant had gallbladder removed June 2021 and pain is still there and regret having had it removed. Idk if I have ibs but that’s my guess. I’ve been back to the GI Drs multiple times and they’ve made it clear I’m just an annoyance to them. I have very fatty stools EVERYTIME and now I’m getting very fatigued fast. I’m at a loss bc no one (Drs wise) wants to take me seriously. I’m sick. I know I am sick and I feel like I’m just waiting to have an emergency situation to get it resolved. Ugh!!!

This hot hard. I have IBS after having my gallbladder removed almost 3 years ago now. It has been so hard to live life like normal! I have just gotten into a horrible pattern of not eating anything and only drinking water all day until I get home at around 9 pm.. I am an Amazon driver so I have no way of stopping and having a restroom nearby while I’m at work. So I am busting my butt at work all day with no food In my system and pretty much starving myself and binging at night while I am home.

So, fatty stools...yes for sure! I found a good digestive enzyme that might help you break down the fat better... Pure Encapsulations and then there Digest Gold... both I feel work pretty well and help beak down the fat while you eat, in your stomach. Mind you, they only work in the stomach, so make sure you take them right before the meal, or 10 min's before. Ones like Creon, which are perscription, those stay with the food and travel into the small intestine, working as it goes. I hope this helps!

Well, yes and no.... I did not have a choice. The gallbladder, after removal, they noticed it had pretty much stopped functioning all together (it was very swollen and the tissue had turned a different color). If I had the option to keep it, I would have... I honestly do not think I would have the issues I have today. If you have just gal-stones, I would ask to have those removed first to make sure you're not removing the bladder without trying to just remove the stones.

Life after gallbladder removal. First I'll say this, our bodies are art work, a masterpiece, and were uniquely designed. The Bible says we are "fearfully and wonderfully made". The creator has a propose for every thing He placed in our bodies and for them to work in harmony. But things go wrong due to several reasons that I won't go into now. I can relate to everything in this video. This is my story and more. My gallbladder was removed 20 years ago and it's been a roller coaster ever since. Trips to my PCP, GI Drs. Trips to the ER. and a multitude of test and diagnosis of everything on the spectrum of GI problems. BUT NEVER EVER did anyone say the cause of all these problems is due to the removal of the gallbladder. And the sad thing about that is that they know it is. Recently, over the past 2-3 years, due to frustration over my condition, I've been researching through the mighty web and found advice and hope. There are non-traditional Drs. that share facts and breakdown the reasons for these "side effects" from gallbladder removal. Things to avoid and things you can and can't do to relieve these issues. I won't give names but if you do a search on YT you'll be amazed at the wealth of info available. Doesn't change the issue of these problems but affirms your truth about what you're going through. "It's not in your head". You/we are not crazy. As some will tell you. Best of health to everyone dealing with this.😊

Thank you for this! I have researched a bit and I do think alot of my issues stem from the removal of the gallbladder. These more recent stomach issues I feel stem from a possible inguinal hernia.. which I am now trying to get treatment for.
