Hi Bradley, sorry to hear about the trouble you're having over there. I have a friend in the States with Lupus and the whole insurance fiasco sounds like a nightmare for her. At least you've been through the process before, hopefully with that knowledge of how the system works, the next time will be easier on you. Good luck and be 'well' :)

Just thought I'd say Hi as you've made some great videos on ME/CFS. I've not much to add but I find trying listen to my body and doing what I want when I feel like it gives me the best quality of health. Obviously life gets in the way(!) But on the whole helps me. Pushing yourself, as has been suggested in comments, is very damaging - I'm sure caused my health to deteriorate in the early days when I was in denial! There is a mountain of research exposing the physical causes of ME. Best Wishes!

...so there is both auditory and visual concentration in personal interactions; I like to be presentable and engaging, and my body finds it stressful as well, due to the maladaptive stress response so there is adrenal fatigue and suchlike also associated with it. CFS is not physical OR psychological, it is sometimes/often a combination of both and I have evidence for the physical aspects which contribute to my case in particular. Hope this helps answer your questions.

I have indeed said there are psychological elements which are contributing to my condition and my recovery, which I am working with as part of said recovery. However, as I've mentioned before there are also physical elements to the condition, which are being worked with as well. I'm glad you managed to continue working despite your ME, many people do, which is great. However, it was will-power, amongst other things, which was a factor in me developing CFS. New approach required.

Oh absolutely, sociologically speaking, you're quite right. However, I like to hope the things I talk about in my videos regarding coping with CFS aren't linked to money and something anyone can empathise with - and, considering the feed back I've had, I'm content with the way they're going. I'm sorry you seem to be the only one focused on my wealth.

Not extremely wealthy, nor rich. Wealth is related to the cost of living in a particular area, income, disposable income etc etc. So many different factors go into play, especially when you begin comparing. Almost everyone is wealthy compared to someone else. But, whilst it may not change your opinion, no, I am not wealthy.

Also, your analogy to the Titanic is a good one, but flawed. If the engine were running slower, would the iceberg still have been there when the Titanic crossed its path? If the impact was slower? But I see your point. If you are travelling in the wrong direction, you're still headed in the wrong direction. I don't think I was. I was happy, healthy and active until I contracted glandular fever (which I didn't know I had at the time).

I would love to be able to work. I have tried in the past but found it too tiring and I cannot wait until I'm fit and healthy enough to maintain a job. In the meantime, however, my parents' incomes barely cover the cost of living here and as I have no income or savings I was advised to claim to help living costs and pay for my treatment. I would not have been able to claim had I been wealthy as the DWP look at financials.

On the contrary, there is research and evidence showing that mitochondrial malfunction (which I mentioned and blogged about) is related to fatigue and I hope there continues to be more research into physical causes. Perhaps yours was psychological, as are many others. But with this illness it is insulting to assume that your case and its causes is the same as everyone else's. It was the will to continue living a happy, active lifestyle which caused my exhaustion as my body couldn't keep up.

I don't like talking about money, and frankly it is none of your business. However, the area and house in which I live is down to personal and family circumstance rather than 'wealth'. The village in which I live is not full of wealthy people. The wider area, however, does contain a number - this can be seen in a number of places throughout the UK. If a person considers themselves to be privileged it does not necessarily mean they are wealthy. I am lucky & feel privileged but I am not wealthy.

Okay, let's get all this cleared up as it seems to be kicking off in the comments here. The amount of tiredness I feel is related to the activity or stimulus and its severity. For example, an hour on World of Warcraft, mining or pottering about, is far less strenuous and requires much less concentration than 10 minutes on Call of Duty. Talking with people I find particularly tiring for a number of reasons; I'm not used to it, I like to pay attention and concentrate on what people are saying...

Sounds like you forgot about the spoons ;P I can't talk though, did exactly the same thing last week and now paying the price...I could kick myself for being so stupid!

How do you know he's wealthy?! Because he speaks properly?! Also, if you play computer games yourself you'll know that you can play for hours and it doesn't use much energy unless its a wii but talking uses a lot more energy. If you had to talk to someone for a long time that would probably tire you out even though youre well. Different activities just use different amounts of energy. If you had flu you might be able to go on tge computer 4 an hour but would find it harder to chat for an hour...
