The Basic Issue by Bob Mumford

Somewhere in time an injury happened to all humanity, and that injury can most carefully be explained to us as a change from a giver to a taker.
Many of us believe we were created to be givers, as is the nature of God. Bob explains Jesus came to heal this injury - as a representative of God and a consummate giver. Bob explains how Jesus, as a giver, came to heal our injury. If we follow Him, He will make us givers.

Watched the Basic Issue this morning Bob. I became a believer in May of 1975 and have been listening to your teachings for decades. I used to subscribe to Life Changers cassette tapes, then books, then teaching sets. My home group here in Newnan, GA (affiliated with Southside Church) is going through "Take Another Look at Guidance". I read it years ago, and still have my copy from the 70's. Since then, I have ordered more to give to people. You are correct about being a giver and follower of Christ. He is the Master Giver, and what an example He portrayed for us. Thanks for the inspiration.

In the early 1980’s in Mobile Alabama when we were both in Gulf Coast Covenant Church I had written you a letter. I received a phone call. Answering the telephone you said Hi this is Bob Mumford. I responded : yeah right !!! You began to laugh and explained to me that anything written by you was xeroxed therefore you decided to call. To this day at my age sixty four that was hands down one of the greatest phone calls I ever received. I decided when I arrive in heaven I’m going to look for brother Bob Mumford as you are a treasured speaker and follower of Christ !!!

Thank you for the gift Bob. I've been listening to you since the 60's. I used to argue about doctrine til I was blue in the face. Never realizing that it's all about the relationship, and whether it makes you a giver. I'm 75 and still fall so short. This was just what I needed this morning!

I sure feel blessed that Pastor Mumford's teachings are on video. I have to watch these several times before the concepts start to take hold in me. My intellect isn't able to keep up in real time because every paragraph makes me ponder and I have to stop and think and pray and read and think some more.

"It is better to give than to receive," we quote it so often in the context of time and money when God was thinking about our hearts. Started listening to your tapes as a youn man when a friend named David Fritz lest some tapes when he went on a mission trip to China. I am now approaching my sixties and His teaching through you is still a blessing. Keep reflecting...never forget your story about telling hardened prisoners with pigs hearts how they needed a lamb's heart.

All churches are takers, 10% of our income. So follow the money!! I love the message I hear from Bob Mumford yet every time I hear someone from a church tell me to be a Giver, I am sure they mean..... show me the money! Perhaps Bob can expand on his view of what a giver in Christ really means. God bless
