Lifeguarding Drill: Rescue passive victim, fully submerged deep (8-12 feet), face-down, facing the rescuer, 1 Rescuer
This is the ninth in the passive victim rescues drills dealing with deep water.
Guidelines:
NOTE: RESCUERS AND VICTIMS MUST BE ABLE TO EQUALIZE PRESSURE UNDERWATER. IF UNABLE TO DO, DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE DRILL.
Victims are at least 10 feet from the pool edge, fully submerged (lying on the bottom) and facing the rescuer. Depth of the water is between 8 to 12 feet deep.
Rescuers will be on deck holding the rescue tube with the rescue tube strap on.
Rescuers need to make contact with the victim and bring them to the surface. Once to the surface, place the victim onto the rescue tube. Utilize rolling the victim to avoid the rescuer or victim from being injured. Once the victim is secured on the tube, rescuers need to raise their hands into the air. This is to show that the victim is stable on the rescue tube.
All rescuers hands in the air when finished with victims stable, secure on their rescue tubes. You'll have 10 seconds to complete the drill.
This is an all pass drill, meaning all rescuers must complete the drill for the lifeguard team to receive a pass.
A 6-12 lifeguard team is preferred. Depending on size of staff, modify to accomodate needs.
