Just for the curtains in your Cabin window, you could buy a length of "Thermal Curtain Backing" and get someone or yourself if you can, to sew it onto the "window side" of the curtain material to provide extra insulation....just a thought 🤗 And for around the cabin, you could use Sheep's Wool, it doesn't burn well as it is a natural fire retardant material, and can stay warm even when wet...just another thought 🤗 These tips come from living in South Island of New Zealand where we get seriously cold "Antarctic Blasts of Weather" that have to be experienced to believe. Much like up there in the Taiga. A GPS Collar might be good to put on Hugo, just for future sake.

I've seen a lot of videos with clear bubble wrap windows insulation. You have to use the ones with the big bubbles. It just sticks to the clean window with some alcohol-based window cleaner. Cheap or free, a second recycled life for bubble wrap (from packaging).

Tip No. 2: If you don't store the wood as round wood, but cut it lengthways into quarters, it will dry much faster. You'll have to split it at some point anyway. Tip No. 3: Try to plug even the tiniest holes in the roof and elsewhere with moss from the forest (and cob). That's how people isolated for thousands of years, it works very well.

Might be a safety-smart idea to wear some safety goggles to protect your eyes from any flying wood chips. When using the power saw. Especially since you are there alone....and sawing over your head with chips certainly coming down on you:!!!! Amazed that you tackle this project alone! Also, wondered why you did not put the rounded side of the logs facing out!??? Glad you found Hugo had gone home - he perhaps didn't see you quietly preparing your meal, eating an then working inside up on the roof. Where is Chrisitan he worried. So ran home. Smart doggie. Love Huga. Wearing just a t-shirt, it must be toasty warm inside with 0 degrees outside. What is the inside temperature? Was so clever to attach the roof part to your belt as you got in position to fix it in place. Was very concerned about you climbing up on the roof while all alone! How many kilometers or miles do you walk to get and home from the cabin? Huga was probably overjoyed to see you arrive home!

Hugo is my dog (Alexandra), we have a house in the village, he will go there...
