One sure tip, whether you find yourself in Mecca or in Madina, is to avoid restaurants located in hotels: sadly, it is a complete rip off. Sure, it might look convenient, but are you willing to spend four times more for each meal compared to outside food?

You can find plenty of fast food near Masjid Al Haram. Albaik, McDonald’s etc are open until 2 or 3 am. There’s a KFC nearby, which is open 24 hours. There are other restaurants and fast food places in the Clock Tower and around that are open 24 hours.

Walaikum Salam Brother, I prefer to book the hotel beforehand to be worry-free. You can look up hotels online and book. On my last trip, I stayed at Anwar Al-Madinah Movenpick, which was good.

Makkah only has fast food. When I got sick, I could not find a place with a bowl of soup or good salad. It was the worst.
