I felt you anger, frustration and desire to cuss out the company you ordered the Polk audio speakers from, but I have to give you Props for maintaining your cool, maybe because you realize your documenting the package opening on video, just in case the sales rep replied, "you damaged the speaker yourself, you didn't follow the product unboxing procedure". Great video though, I hope you got the center channel speaker replaced, FREE of charge!!
@LifeofBliss5 жыл бұрын
Sure didnt... waited 4 months and still nothing. They kept telling me it was on backorder. I ended up wanting to make this DIY Sound Group speakers anyways, so I sold all of the Polks and bought the others. Ended up ahead actually because I kept the receiver and got it at quite the discount! But yes, very frustrating

I know this is older video but polk lost me as a customer. I bought brand new signature s55's. after opening them I see that they have placed a sticker (advertising the features of the speaker) on the face of the speaker. while peeling the sticker off, it pulled the paint off. A useless sticker, placed on the speaker - not a floor model, that pulled the paint off the speaker.... I contacted them and was told they do not warranty damage caused by the customer.... I'm glad I bought them on sale. I hope polk treated you better than they treated me.

The damage of the center speaker wasn't because something hit the drivers. Those speakers have very heavy magnets and clearly the massive magnets didn't want to stop suddenly, thus took the cones with them. I would be worried about partial damage to the drivers, because obviously someone tossed those speaker around very aggressively.
@LKN1175 жыл бұрын
I see all the vandalized comments on here which is honestly what I thought at first but after seeing the damage done im not entirely sure. I have personally purchased two pairs of Jamo e800 bookshelf speakers used at thrift stores that both had similar failures albeit not as extreme. Fortunately the drivers were fixable but I have seen strange but different failures happen to polk speakers as well. I wonder if the basket separated from the mounting ring in shipping and the weight of the magnet ripped it from the driver. Just my two cents.

It looks like somebody put their hands through the drivers as well as dropping it, then returned it hoping nobody would notice. Or maybe it was an abused display model... Then Adorama turned around and sold it to you as new product without even bothering to check it out first! ... This should have been sold as used product, and checked for damage before it left the store.... Boooo Adorama for being in too much of a hurry to make money... And now magically they can't seem to order any from Polk (even though Best Buy seems to be selling them by the truckload!) ... Polk is one of the easiest companies to order from since their product is so popular. They always have stock, or just about to have stock... Yep, Adorama is definitely playing games, probably waiting for another dealer sale from Polk before they commit to purchasing again.

Looks great. I just received my lsim 707s today and I couldn't be happier. I bought mine from adorama as well. They are heavy indeed but that's part of the reason why they are so good. I already have 4 of the lsim 705s and love them to death. There are a lot of mixed reviews on these speakers but don't worry they will sound awesome. Your amp should work great. The problem everyone is having with these is a huge misconception, people say they sound a little carved out in the frequency response. Most of these people are powering them with their avr receivers. These speakers will require a lot of power. At the moment I am powering mine with an ashly mfa800. this is 750 watts per channel and they take every bit of it. I know it says 250 watts but I promise you they want more. You made the right choice by going with a separate amplifier and it should sound great but if you ever feel the need to upgrade, try adding another amp into the mix and they will sound like completely different speakers.
@LifeofBliss6 жыл бұрын
That's great man! Glad you are enjoying them, I'm super excited to get mine set up. And yea I've seen the mixed reviews, but most are positive. And nothing wrong with the extra headroom you have! I'll be sure to post a video (or several) once they are hooked up and let you know my impressions!

I’ve not seen it to that extent. I’ve seen baskets distorted which ash caused the voice coil to rub/jam but that’s after a severe drop and on large (12” plus) drive units. I can’t believe those drive units are destroyed like that without the outer packaging being completely caved in and the cabinets damaged. It must be a thin die cast basket supporting a heavy magnet to fail like that.

i realize this was likely not the fault of the manufacturer (polk), but I would never recommend their products to anyone after having a bad encounter with them. purchased a polk dsw micro pro 3000 sub from them a while back and it failed after 4 years (was on a power conditioner/surge protector). the sub itself was on the upper end of good (not great), and had a lot of power and was especially good with producing low frequency bass (helicopters and explosions). the amp died, and they wouldn't even send me a new internal amp discounted when I could just buy the whole thing on ebay for less. customer support was disappointing especially for such a high end item that should last 15+ years. i opened it up and they used the cheapest of components. no Japanese capacitors (aka the only kind that should be in high end audio equipment), cheap aluminum inter-board cabling and somehow all the mosfets were fried despite being on a high end power system. last time i'd buy from them.
