The LIFEPAK 15 monitor/defibrillator features 360J biphasic technology, which gives you the option of escalating your energy dose up to 360J for difficult-to-defibrillate patients. Why is this necessary? Recent studies have shown that refibrillation is common among VF cardiac arrest patients and that defibrillation of recurring episodes of VF is increasingly difficult. Another recent randomized controlled clinical trial shows the rate of VF termination was higher with an escalating higher energy regimen of 200J and over.
Proven CPR guidance and post event review…
The CPR Metronome in the LIFEPAK 15 monitor uses audible prompts to guide you without distracting vocal critique. A metronome has been a feature that has demonstrated to help you perform compressions and ventilations within the recommended range of the 2010 AHA Guidelines. Post-event review of CPR data and delivering feedback to the team has been shown to be effective in improving CPR quality in both hospital and out-of-hospital. And by transmitting code data directly to CODE-STAT Data Review software, QA/QI personnel can review CPR statistics and provide training and feedback where it is most needed.

Fun fact: On one of the demonstration units used in making this video, the Physio-Control badge in the top right corner is replaced by a retro style logo that was used in the 90s. On the startup screen for this particular unit it also says "Defibrillator/Monitor" instead of "Monitor/Defibrillator" like all other LP15s as a throwback to the older term.

Great presentation but I always had problems with the BP cuff. I've found more accurate BPs if I apply the cuff LOOSELY. And this was the Physio service guys advice.

How do you silence the low perfusion alarm on spo2? It constantly sounds on our unit on anyone with just the slightest problem obtaining an Sop2 and annoys the hell out of everyone all the way to the hospital

How do you switch it to manual mode? Is it different on all units depending on how our service has it set up?

I think it depends on how your service has set the monitor up. Our service has set the machine up to start in AED mode which has to be changed to manual mode after.

Our service got those on some bargain deal and I know why now. Absolute piece of junk. Worked decent at first but after couple years (assuming warranty ended) started to fail. To get a good tracing is a hit or miss, sometimes you will get all the bumps in the road instead of pt's heart rhythm, lot of times you will get zigzags on steady pt no matter what you do and few times I noticed that improved after truck started moving 🤷‍♂️ not gonna mention unable to get a BP reading cause that's something you can do manually but ECG not. Also to go back from AED to regular mode is pretty much impossible during the code so you have to turn it off which will mess up your whole time line. Did I mention that it costs like a brand new car?
