It's the maximum number allowed while still giving a benefit but you start to get diminishing returns after you go over 18 works mining. 18 is the optimal number of mining workers.

2 workers per patch is *optimal* guys, hence if you are about to have 2 workers per min patch and you can safely expand you should and your mining will be better optimised than having 3 per patch.

If it's just one, maybe two cannons, it's not a cheese. More of a forward cannon to cause some grief, the equivalent of a Terran putting a bunker there and loadig it up with Marines which does happen a fair bit. Once you build more and make it a proper cannon rush though, it's a cheese.

I get his point - 8 mineral patches, 3 drones per patch, 3 per geyser. Yet it seems with 24 drones mining some of them keep switching patches. Besides, when you have 24 drones mining, you should have an expand coming up...

And yet high level players don't get 24 per base, 24 workers is the highest amount of mining you can get and any more will be wasted but any drones after 16 are not operating at 100% efficiency because they will be standing still doing nothing some of the time so works over 16 are moved to a base without the optimal amount of drones at it to make them more efficient.

At least some of us are friendly. If you treat people with respect, they are more likely to respect you. Yeah, a game without mistakes doesn't exist, that's more or less a fact. I kind of understand why you're bothered by it, but I can at the same time see where he's coming from with the criticism. Still, you're right, he shouldn't complain as much, though he can obviously point out mistakes that might not be so obvious, since he knows enough about the game to do that.

with respect, that's not correct. above every nexus/hatch/CC it says clearly that there should be around 24 harvesters on minerals. the 3 count above the gas is separate from mineral count. when you remove a worker from mineral line, and transfer to gas, the count above base decreases and goes to gas count.

You're mislead about what defines cheese. It's cheese when it's a fully-commited early-aggression build aimed at ending the game and out of which there is no effective transition because it puts you so far behind when it fails. Therefore, placing a couple of cannons at the Zerg's natural when opening FFE is not cheese because 1) you don't commit all your ressources 2) you can easily transition out of it and 3) although your build allows for early aggression, its main purpose is high econ.

The zerg did well. The protoss didn't. He did a great job preventing the expansion and expanding himself behind that, getting an economy lead. However, he didn't use that to his advantage. That's why he lost. I say this as a proud bronze league player... though I only played enough to get out of the placement matches, and the rest is unranked with friends of mine, so I don't know where I actually belong, but I'd guess silver, not that it's anything spectacular.
