Lily Allen - From Riches To Rags S01 E01

Feeling tired of life on the road, Lily is quitting touring in favour of a quieter life, and to realise another dream - to open a vintage shop.
The series begins backstage at The O2 Arena on the last night of Lily's tour as she prepares to begin a new chapter in her life. Along with her half-sister Sarah (a total business novice) Lily plans on making couture and vintage pieces available to those who may not be able to afford such luxury items in an innovative clothes store where customers can hire or buy one-off designer garments.
They set out transforming Lily's office into the base for their business. But all they have is the name - Lucy in Disguise - and an idea.

In hindsight I would say finish all three segments first before you comment. This film series is more about Lily growing up than anything else. Glad to see she's back on the music scene as her true self. A growing experience for her and her sister.

The fact is that in the history of a famous person quitting what they do to be a designer that has never separated them from their prior careers. Really liked her music and even bought a few albums. But as a person she always comes across as the worst kind of spoilt brat. I remember seeing her at Glastonbury and she was not that into her fans, couldn’t remember the lyrics to her own song! (People paid to watch her read from a bit of paper!) And one of the other security guards I was working with told me that she turned her back on a little boy that wanted an autograph.

I'm not a fan of her music (I'm not 12yrs old), but I like her personality and her courage. The AWFUL, cheap and vicious attitude of the tabloids and society to women, especially women with power, who speak their mind and encourage others to (as opposed to peddling mediocrity and uniformity of opinion) is fucking depressing. The fact she can't get away with being boorish and 'laddy' (like her dad, who is obviously also a bit of a prick) is part of our collective dysfunction or mental health disorder. I'm sure the wrath of the tabloids did immense damage to her, as they do to most female celebrities and females in general (they do to men, but in a different, especially men, gay men, or straight men who are vulnerable), and to their fans. It's vile that in 2021 I should admire someone for simply having the temerity to say what's on their mind. And when you think the person ordering the hits in the first place was probably Rebekah Brooks (Wade or Kemp or whatever her name was), another powerful, outspoken women. Brooks flagrantly, blithely reinforcing the standards, hierarchies and societal rules established by grotesque old, white men. Lily stood up for herself and women in general. She should be respected! It takes courage. And, ok, she did have one or two fun tunes!

Even funnier that she kept saying how much she hated the music industry, then when she clearly realised she was absolutely out of her depth and failed, she went back to the industry cap in hand and tried to wipe this program from existence 😂 The druggy sister who has such an inferiority complex towards lilly despite having every chance for success herself and throwing it all away, and who I wouldn't even employ to run my bath, lilly coming from a very wealthy connected father showing how little they understand anything and how little real world knowledge they have, renting a ridiculously expensive shop, doing a business where your just flirting around gossiping how much you love vintage clothes, the hilarious single employee who just seems to natter the whole time and never doing any work, and all in on a business idea that any young girl would come up with using crayons. I have been in business for some time, and I absolutely have no doubt she would have lost all 500k plus more by the end of all this, poor lady. Heartbreaking she sent her druggy sister on a huge bender to America to buy clothes after spending 50k already on super expensive clothes, and she came back late with even more 😢 This is perfectly cut cringe, thanks for uploading!
