I've not traveled that extensively and won't try to make any comparisons. But we drove down to Les Eyzies-de-Tayac to see the prehistoric art caves. We stayed in La Roque-Gageac. We toured a couple of the castles, had lunch in the garden overlooking the Dordogne, walked the streets of Domme, went to the huge street market in Sarlat... Drove around the countryside. The area captured my heart. Hope to see more of the French Countryside. Sort of thinking about the Alsace for our next adventure.

You won't regret it. I moved to Vence, 21 km from the Nice airport, when Trump was elected and have never regretted it. My sister came to visit just before the pandemic, and had a minor mishap on her bicycle. I accompanied her to the clinic nearby for x-rays. When they determined that her ankle was bruised but not broken, they wrapped it and sent us on our way. She asked the nurse for 'l'addition,' thinking that was the word for 'the bill.' The nurse just smiled and said, 'Tous est couvert.'

Colmar is a great choice. It blew me away with how gosh darn pretty it is. Also, as a bonus, there is a mini Statue of Liberty on a roundabout as you enter the town by car, as Bartholdi, the designer of the SoL, was born in Colmar.
@olddave50842 жыл бұрын
I recommend you then to visit Belfort and its very known Lion, a statue which was also made by Bartholdi after Belfort resisted against Germans during the first French-German conflict of 1870. Belfort was part of the Alsace and got separated from her because Alsace became part of Germany until the end of the first world war in 1918. The history of the eastern part of France has been very tricky because of three wars between Germany and France (1870, 1914 and 1939). Beautiful! Take a look at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion_of_Belfort
