If you have trouble getting the ball studs into the socket of the gas spring, use a small flathead screwdriver on the back of the socket piece and pry the metal springs away so they open slightly to get the ball studs to snap in effortlessly. I bent one trying to get it in and had to bend it back out. But then I had the idea to try this for the other side and it worked great.

@44ryang908 ай бұрын
@bolson081 I was. Mine was bent to about 90 degrees. So not all the way folded. Use the screwdriver to open it up a little and you can get your plyers in there easier to bend it out.

After watching video carefully, took me about two hours. I wouldn’t attempt it without an impact driver and a socket adapter. My only misstep was early in the process, not checking to make sure that I had seated the front and back panels fully in their slots. Must do that for the rest of it to work. I could do another one in 45 minutes.

I've also seen a couple of people mention the gas springs here, I also had problems with it. I used pliers to try and spread the clips to loosen it. But you know, they are spring clamps or something, so they just go back to their default form after you fiddle with it. I felt not even the ROCK could clip it in. LOL! Then a lightbulb went off... What I did was apply WD40 on the ball, as well as the clip side. This makes it more slippery, so the spring clips can slide/spread on it, instead of getting stuck on it. Final assembly wasn't really satisfactory because the alignment of entire box seems off. I have to press down on the lid in order to close. One of the more tedious assembly projects I've had in a long time, more tedious than Ikea stuff.

I just finished installing this and ran into the issue you had. The directions in the video is a bit confusing. He says to make sure the hole on the lid brace closest to the two holes is on the right but I guess he meant the viewer’s right. So actually when you’re installing the little L bracket to the lid brace, you want to make sure the hole closest to the two holes is on the left side and the vertical part of the L bracket is closest to the hole further away. See Figure 2.8 in the manual. Now when you install the lid brace to the lid, the section with the L bracket shouldn’t slide in or across the divet because it actually goes to the left of the divet (when looking above from the lid). You’ll see this in the video that and that only the main brace goes in the divet. Hope this helps anyone with this issue.
@WhatAG238 ай бұрын
Ther spot with the lock bracket isn’t perfectly center, look at which way you have it as there should be a little more length to the right once you add the lock L shaped thing.
@LesterLovesWatches7 ай бұрын
@@kxntmxrkCan you expand on how to solve this issue. I am on the stage where you have to push each end of the brace into the slot. One end goes ok into the slot. But then when you try to slide the other end into the opposite slot, the two bolts in the L bracket get in the way and stop the brace sliding.
@kxntmxrk7 ай бұрын
@LesterLovesWatches make sure the two holes with the bolts of the L bracket is installed next to the hole with the shorter gap (2”) and the part that sticks up is closer to the hole with the longer gap (4”). The L bracket should not slide through the slot and should be just be to the left of the slot already before sliding in the brace.

Why does it seem as tho rhe screws don't fit for step 2.4...?
@LifetimeProductsAssembly6 ай бұрын
The diameter of the screw is meant to be a little bit larger than the hole. This will help prevent the screw from stripping outward. We have found that it helps to take a socket wrench, and start the screw using the ratchet as leverage. Once the first or second thread of the screw clears the hole, you should be able to finish it with the drill.

Your lid brace may be oriented incorrectly. Part "GSU" is not symmetrical, but it looks like it unless you inspect closely. It looks like you installed the bracket with the 4” gap on the left. That longer gap should be on the right and the 2” gap goes left, this is depicted on page 21 step 2.8 of the assembly manual.

Once the first or second thread of the screw clears the hole, you should be able to finish it with the drill.

As far as we are aware, there are not any assembly errors in this video. But we would be more than happy to look into this further. What errors are you referring to?
@VinnyTheGonz7 ай бұрын
Error right off the bat. The instructions specifically say NOT to use a driver but a hand phillips to join the 8 screws thru bottom into base cleats.
@LifetimeProductsAssembly7 ай бұрын
@@VinnyTheGonz You are correct, the assembly manual does say to not use an impact driver for this step. We say this to ensure that the hardware is not overtightened. Tighten only until flush with the plastic. If you are not experienced with using an impact, it is better to use a screw driver as you can feel the tension when you are tightening the screws. In the introduction of the video 01:05, Isaac says if you decide to use an impact to not over torque or overtighten the hardware. It’s important to start slow and at a lower torque and then once it catches you’ll be able to pick up the speed and get the screw through. Isaac is very experienced and comfortable with using an impact without overtightening the hardware or stripping the plastic. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us at youtube@lifetime.com.

Instructions are good to maybe get a different view of what the video explained. I would literally watch each step, then run complete that step. (Running outside to where the main box was if necessary) ****it is very important to pay attention to the number on each piece. Even two identical looking sides have different numbers. The pack of screws, bolts etc is designed to where you can leave them in the box to where they are labeled until you need them. To my delight I completed the whole thing without a hitch.
