And when AC220V fails, clock stops.... therefore... not lifetime...
@raphanunu6912 Жыл бұрын
Don't do that ! This is dangereous ! Mains aren't isolated, the output voltage varies in function of the load, there's no current limiter to the Led except the Led itself. It can work for a while but not for more than a few minutes and it will surely destroy the Led, the two capacitors and the clock as well. This is a lose/lose solution to replace a battery you'll change every 10 years !

No its not actually fake, because it will work (the circuit is called a capacitive dropper). But it is 100% dangerous if you touch the wrong bits. A circuit like this needs to be potted in resin or something similar to isolate it from being touched. Please don't build it like this, you may end up killing someone.

Better use a 18650 from scratch with BMS and LM317 to stabilize 1,5V. No shock. Valid for curiosity.
@dieseldragon67566 ай бұрын
Last time I checked, battery powered clock circuits were designed to pass *1.5v,* _not_ 220v! Safety issues aside, the coil and timer circuits will almost certainly burn out quicker than a Temu space heater. ⚡😳🔥 And with a pack of 10 cheap Zinc batteries costing about a Euro and lasting 6-9 months apiece, I think a couple packs cheap batteries might cost less than the components in the schematic. 😇
@mikep-j8946 ай бұрын
The LED shunt regulates the output voltage the series capacitor current limits, actually this is minimalist and elegant. But yes it needs to be in a box...
@dieseldragon67566 ай бұрын
@@mikep-j894 Personally, I wouldn't be happy using a capacative dropper on something that low voltage. A transformer and a diode might be more costly in component terms, but the better safety and longevity of the secondary circuit would make it worthwhile in my book. 😇 One of my neighbours threw out a rechargeable LED lamp that recharged from the mains. I tore it down for curiosity, and it was (predictably) using a capacative dropper with a single resistor for regulation. I had never seen a ceramic resistor _that_ blackened in my life before...And the amount of heat damage to the plastic case 10mm (1/2") above it showed there was a *lot* of current being forced through that thing... 😳)

Cap on the line limits current and diodes change AC to DC with the diode making about 1.5 volt shunt regulator for the clock and adding a NiMh cell on the clock will keep it running when the power goes out. The 100k resistor also helps limit the current and make a voltage divider 100 to 1 with the 1k resistor making about 1.8 volts peak on the clock terminals filtered by the big capacitor.

That is worse than any very cheap chinese led bulb driver. It rectifies only one sinusoid of AC (you need 4 diodes to rectify both sinusoids). The first capacitor is a resistor in AC, and the rest is the rectifier with an electrolytic capacitor to smooth the sinusoid but it result in fact a non stabilized PWM which is bad for electronic quartz mechanism of the clock.

A crazy circuit for suicide people. Not even a fuse to avoid fire, two on both lines would be better, but even better would be use a battery, it last for one year and more, so you just have to change it in a fixed day of the year, whatever you decide. Lethal voltages with no ever current limiting resistor, see red LIVE line, what happens if the capacitor is going to be a short circuit ? ( it can happen ... ). And finally, if there is a missing voltage from the mains, the clock stops, and then restarts with the delay of the fault itself ... and you have to re-adjust the clock at your risk ...
