How to feed cucumber to fish, snails, plecos and shrimp. Cucumber is a good food to fish fish, snails and shrimp. To easy to prepare and store. Cut the cucumber or zucchini into slices, add it to a pan of boiling water for a few minutes. Once it’s blanched put it in some cold water, this will stop the blanching process.

Once you boil or steam zucchini or cucumbers, they will automatically float because the water content has been taken out. Only raw vegetables will continue to float

The only problem with this video is you never ever want to leave raw food in a fish tank longer than overnight! It will begin to foul the water. So to say that you would leave raw food in a fish tank for 1 to 2 weeks is very bad. You would only want to put enough in the fish tank for overnight. Other than that, this is a very nice video.

I never boil or Blancing them. Within an hour or so in the tank the veggie will be more then soft enough for anything to eat. Blancing is just a personal preference

JustLem once there at a certain size you can just rip the leaves off and it’ll heal up fairly quickly.... it’s the same with most others plants like these.

just as a kind reminder that in order to preserve water quality its actually best to remove the seeds and center part of the cucumber/zucchini as they tend to degrade relatively quickly and the fish and little critters don't usually bother with the middle anyway :) actually by running the cucumber in an ice bath it maintains the cucumber's cell structure which means that it wouldn't break down as quickly in comparison to you just blanching the cucumber and popping it into the tank, which allows the fish and other invertebrates to graze on for a longer period of time, rather than having a mushy mess and fouling the water :) just be careful like Shelia said with pesticides and stuff :)

We keep the center part as the snails love to eat it. They eat that part first so the cucumber looks like a donut! Then they work on the rest.

Yeah, my snails really loved the Zucchini I prepared this way! They perked up and are looking healthier. My Tetras pretty much give up on trying to eat it as well. One way I've been able to get Tetras to eat greenery is with peas. I boil them, remove the skin, then I grind it between my fingers in the water. They happily eat it then.

Their staple food is soilent green repashy gel food, but we also feed cucumber, Zucchini and occasionally algae wafers.

Cucumber doesn't have protein. Green beans and peas have protein.

I leave the skin on and slice them in half long ways, then stick a fork in the end. If you use organic then you don’t have to worry about the skins. Leave it in the tank for 24-48 hours. My plecos snails and shrimp love them. No boiling needed.

Try blueberries as well, my Shubunkins are so fussy though, I first off halved small blueberries (2) plopped those in the tank, yes we like those but the skins a bit tough, fine I'll peel them, nope too big, okay then, I'll quarter them, nope not interested anymore. Water you have to dechlorinate regardless. I wouldn't recommend putting them into cold water unless the water has been treated. Just a thought. Good video though. My fish and snails love cucumbers, strawberries and lettuce the most.

I find the best snail food put a carrier underneath your aquarium let it dry out cut off a very thin strip when you want to feed your snails

How do you know how much to feed? I have a new-ish tank with 4-5 ghost shrimp and a few trumpet snails, and I've found that even doing a quarter as much pellet food as the instructions on the package say, more than half the food goes uneaten. I'm not sure if they don't like it, or they just aren't hungry. There isn't any algae in my tank, and I haven't seen them grazing on any of my plants or the like. I want to try veggies to see if they prefer that, but I don't know how much to put in...
