For Thai people, I really like you go exploring stuffs around Bangkok. It is always nice to see what happening in the nabour. Personally I discovered those areas by riding road bikes.. but some that you went through is not easy to access. To me you have been through many BTS/MRT stations more than many..... Sooner or later you will be those top 1% that been through more than the rest.

I like the random exploring, although the planned trips are fun too. When I visit a new city, I love to just ride the bus/public transportation to wander around and find the areas I want to explore in more depth. Hop off to see the sights, then get back on a different bus and head to a new area.

@@LifewithSerg Ayutthaya was the capital of Siam for 700+ years, but when it fell the King fled and moved the capital down south to Thon Buri (West of the Chao Phraya River, "New Jersey" if you will like the OC said). But then the King died 15 years after he made Thon Buri the new capital, and the new King moved the capital across the river to the east side ("New York" if you will) to what was then known as "Bangkok" and renamed it "Krung Thep Maha Nakhon" or "Krung Thep" for short. So now Bangkok has two sides split by the river; the west side is called "Thon Buri" after the old capital, and the east side is called "Phra Nakhon" roughly meaning "The City where the King resides".

Yes, what you've said are really on point and I really agree, as a Thai I have to say, a couple of years ago there's a Viral here about art work in Bangkok because there was a great art work from a Thai artist name "Mamafaka" and his cute art called "Mr.hellyeah" he's really famous and his art are well known all around the world, many products around the world collapsed with him such as Vans, Converse, Inc., K-Swiss, Billabong, M150, Isuzu, Smirnoff, V.O.X, Yamaha,Vespa(limited edition) so he has a fans all around the world came just to take a picture with his biggest art on the side of the building and one day there's a crew of foreigner tourist wiped out all his beautiful art work and just spraying their crew name in their country with 0 art. Lol I think it's not that weird for their grafiti culture to wipe out or bomb other artists art work if there are no place left for you and you really want to draw your art here like 8 years old kids you could still did it in their culture but you have to pay respect to the locations and the original artist too by Draw the better art if you bomb and if the original artist though he could do better than that one he could bomb it back, it's really a fair game and it's made that location looks better not just holding a spray can and just want their crew name to shine by spray their name on a huge building and made that place looks like dirty place. and If I'm not wrong that legend huge art of Mamafaka is on one side of the 4 floors building and it's gone viral and people really felt so sad because the owner of the original art that was bomb do not have any chance to bomb it back because he's gone. I really appreciate your creative content, like this one about spirit houses, their architectures and rates. FYI, when we speak of spirit houses, actually at each house it's very common to have 2 installed next to each other, one for a particular heavenly angel who's believed to protect each house and the other for 2 more earthly spirits (a grandfather and a grandmother) who are believed to be local guardians of every land. At home I also have 2 spirit houses. Are you not interested to move to one of these residential areas? 😝

Hi Serg, I recommend that you visit "Putthamonthon Park" located on the border between Thawee Watthana District, the westernmost district of Bangkok, and Nakhon Patom Province. (It's on Nakhon Patom side.) It's a huge, lush 74-square kilometer park with lots of huge trees, ponds and wildlife, and it has a beautiful moat on three sides. This park's project was initiated about 80 years ago (in the mid-1940s) as a Buddhist park with many Buddhist statues and symbols, the biggest and main one being the walking Buddha image in the middle of the park. It's probably the biggest public park in Thailand and a truly wonderful place to visit. It takes about 20-30 minutes by car from the Bang Wa BTS station that you just visited the other day. (From central Bangkok, it probably takes 40-50 minutes, provided the traffic is not too bad.) Because my house is in Thawee Wattna District, about 12 km from the park, I go there for my morning walks almost every weekend or public holiday. By the way, in this park, there is a dog shelter (called "Dog Island") where the park management keeps hundreds of abandoned dogs. In the past, some terrible people brought their dogs to the park and abandoned them because they didn't want to keep them anymore, and the management had no choice but to provide a shelter for them. (That is why nowadays people are not allowed to take their dogs to the park anymore.) The food for those dogs are mostly donated by park-goers who feel sorry for them. Visit the park and you will not be disappointed!
@LifewithSerg2 жыл бұрын

By the way, if you want to visit Putthamonthon Park, I recommend that you go as early in the morning as you can so it's not too hot. The air is very fresh in the park in the morning. And if if it's a breezy day, you'd feel very good walking around. It's such a fantastic place to go and relax in. In some parts of the park, you'd feel as if you were walking in a forest.

I don't know if anyone has said it yet, but the 'horse' dish is actually a '1000 year old egg' (and perhaps a meatball?). It's an egg that has been 'brined' in horse urine for a hundred days, so the salt of the urin has pickled the egg, and given it a dark, almost translucent look.
@LifewithSerg2 жыл бұрын
Set up a mentioned there was a century egg. The translation with the Google app on my phone said “horse piss”. BUT No one has mentioned the fact that it was LITERALLY brined with horse urine, Joanne! So I ate an egg that was brined in horse piss. That’s too funny. 🤣

Hi Serg, good restaurant choice! I stopped by Bangwa Station for transit quite often but never get a chance to explore the surrounding munchies. Now I know where to go. By the way, that spinach dish, from the description, should have shrimp bits and spinach altogether wrapped into a ball. Two balls per serving. Not sure why it turned out that way : ))) The horse radish mystery dish is basically pork ball with century egg on top. We called century egg which is a Chinese derived ingredient "horse piss egg" in Thai, because of the ammonia aroma from the fermentation which kept the eggs from going bad. The restaurant probably had all the dishes translated wrong to begin with.
@LifewithSerg2 жыл бұрын
The food was excellent. They didn’t have anything translated. I used the Google translator app on my iPhone and the camera. It’s never very good. And yes, it said some thing about horse piss. @@LifewithSerg It's such a shame that we Thais take presentation of Dim Sum for granted. Considering that Hor Jia is actually a well established restaurant. This would never happen in Hong Kong or even Bay Area where you came from. I enjoy the adventuring whether they're planned or not. However, maybe you could talk a little more about the area you're going to wander into in terms of the geography of it if you're not familiar with its history. Because of how spread out BKK is, and how it is a melting pot of people from all over Thailand, and neighboring countries, as well as some not so neighboring countries like Mid-East (Nana Area), Africa (Nana Area), India (Phahurat Area), Chinese (Yaowarat Area), Southern Thais and Muslims (Minburi Area), and Burma (Bangmot Area), it is always fun to visit a different part of town. Just in case you want to go to the Bangmot Area, it is south of Bangkok and is a little too far if you do not have a car. This area brings you close to Mahachai Market which is famous for fresh seafood caught from Samut Songkhram Province which is very close to BKK. Best seafood restaurants are there and in case you have access to your own car or go with a friend, it should be a great experience. Cheers!!!
