good ole liftmaster.... they either saw the chain drive shaft off and spit the sprocket on the floor or the plastic gears inside self destruct.../.the good news is there are kits available to replace the offending parts for 20-30 bucks... replaced many over the years

Does the belt dry out if you have a belt drive? Bc I want to buy 2 Liftmaster 8160WB that is chain drive or a Belt drive Liftmaster

Excellent question. Yes the belt can dry out and fray. But the great thing is that LiftMaster offers a lifetime warranty on their belts.

I live on the East Coast and every LiftMster dealer I contacted either doesn't have this or has the 8160WB model. How can I get this model on the East Coast and if I can't, would getting the 8160W be that bad?

Hello! Thanks for sharing your experience. I don't think you can go wrong with the 8160WB. That motor will offer a similar performance. The WiFi connectivity might be slightly different.

That is a great question! What type of garage door do you have? What area is your property located? The LiftMaster model 81650 is an AC motor operator. Yet it's installed south of the border. Thus it may not be available in all areas.

@@sosgds HI I have a Precision 900 with a T-Rail And the garage door takes two men to lift up. I installed a Genie from Lowe's and the rail was bending and it's wouldn't pick up the door. so I returned it.

Are the newer chain drives as quiet as the belt drives are? Why can't they sell it as a belt or chain? It just needs a different sprocket on top

That is a great question. The sprocket to these chain drive openers can be replaced. In fact I made a Shorts video on it. But LiftMaster feels they can sell more of their high end belt openers.

Keep in mind that the LiftMaster AC Chain Drive design has been around since 1984 ish so thats about 40 years. I promise you Genie won’t stack up to the reliability of that. Period.

Mine is a new used less than 15 times and after power outage the travel motor broken and warranty said i have to go home depot and lowes to buy it. Very helpless
