Amazing singing church. Nice when you have nice pipe organ and make congregation to sing praises to the Lord.

I agree about lifting the Cross, short or long poled, high. The Cross itself should be higher than anyone’s head so that a person has to look up at it.

I don’t think it was in the hymnal of the churches I worshipped at. Then around 15 years ago on Easter Sunday in my Lutheran Church we sang it and i immediately fell in love with its majesty and triumph.

Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim till all the world adore his sacred name. Come, Christians, follow where our Saviour trod, our Lamb victorious, Christ, the Son of God. Refrain: Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim till all the world adore his sacred name. All newborn servants of the Crucified bear on their brow the seal of Christ who died. Refrain: O Lord, once lifted on the glorious tree, your death has brought us life eternally. Refrain: So shall our song of triumph ever be: praise to the Crucified for victory. Refrain:

Was your mom by chance a member of the Order of the Daughters of the King? That is our official anthem.

She was a Lutheran. She didn't belong to any order. She just simply believed in God and his mercy. That's the deal with us Lutherans. We're a stubborn pain in the ass. But our love for God, Christ and his holy host will not be denied. We just have no patience for your damned cults. There's no need for them. Disband and realize we all worship the same God.

Here is a verse if anyone wants it: Ephesians 4:29 Jesus loves you all :)
“O Christ lifted high, O Love crucified, fill our hearts with your love, that we may see in your Cross the sign of our redemption. Lord Jesus Christ, who accept the Cross at the hands of men to make of it the sign of God’s saving love for humanity, grant us and all the men and women of our time the grace of faith in this infinite love.”

The cross is a symbol of discomfort, pain, and grief and it is difficult to carry, but we must all carry our own➕
@drydenbelle3 жыл бұрын
True. But it is also a symbol of the Resurrection and Christ's triumph over death.

@@tombradburn3935 my comment is based on scripture not the theme of the lyrics

No. Jesus Christ did it for us. That is the Gospel message and the theme of Holy Week and the theme of this hymn. Nothing about us carrying our own cross.

Tell the crucifer to lift that cross higher! ;-)
@MadgedeBellwether5 жыл бұрын
I agree, however the processional cross used has a shortened base pole so it is not possible to lift it up. As a side noteI get really annoyed when a crucifer could lift the cross higher and doesn't.

What a large church . Is there not even one man among them both able and willing to provide leadership?
@charlescreegan61643 жыл бұрын
The ones that hired the woman provided great leadership! FWIW if you investigated you'd find the senior pastor is male.
