@elco_os93554 жыл бұрын
I live in a flat with a unstable lift. I have experienced the 'free fall' for two times now. The first time it just went into failure mode while going up on full speed. So the brakes engaged and it felt like it did fall down a bit, while it in fact only stopped. The second time i got stuck was because it overtraveled the ground floor at full speed, so it again tripped the safety brakes and it felt like it has collapsed into the pit but in fact didn't. However, the real thing that worried me was the fact that the alarm button didn't work and i didn't bring my phone.

Fujitec logic is kinda weird though. When in nudge mode call buttons won't work, if you press the bumper it will work(but activating sensors don't). But if you press door open it will open, but if you let go halfway it will close.

The trains I commute with also have beam sensors and nudge mode, which behave much like they would on a lift. Though instead of being triggered after a certain amount of time, the nudge mode activates on all open doors when the train is ready to depart. The doors on buses and trams in Zurich don't nudge, but they beep when they are held open after the driver prepares to leave.
@lzh49502 жыл бұрын
The heavy rail in my country now all run on CBTC, which do indeed send the doors into nudge mode after a fixed duration that I guess is hard-coded into the signalling system's program code for each different station i.e. the doors will stop moving but not reopen when they hit an obstruction when closing, & I don't think any one has to check that no one is in the way or have to press any button to close the doors. Also heard the Alstom Metropolis trains we have allow its doors to be opened up to 5cm even when the train is moving, to allowed anything caught in the doors e.g. clothing to be freed

This sort of “accident” has happened in the netherlands quite a few times with elderly people and dog leashes. Often (or perhaps in all cases) the dog did not survive this as they where chocked by their own leash. In one case it resulted in a casualty to an elderly woman who was standing outside the trying to rescue the dog by pulling the doors. As the lift was moving the leash got caught behind the the door rollers and unlocked them. The lift had already moved quite a distance so when the woman had opened the doors, she fell foreward into the shaft. Since a few years the put warning stickers in some lifts to inform people to keep the leash as short as possible and not loose sight of the dog. As in all of these cases the owner of the dog was distracted and either the dog got in the lift and the owner didn’t or vice versa and got separated. Then when the doors close, the leash sticks through the narrow gap and at some point it results in dead dog. The beam sensors have a lot of difficulty sensing these thing objects. Drawstrings from clothing or backpacks are also troublesome in this case. I think a 3D sensor could improve the situation. Mitsubitshi uses them on their upmarket models.

Thats why you should always have an emergency stop button, i hate how in some lift there is no mean of instantly stoppingbthe lift from the inside or its locked behind a keyswitch
@lzh49502 жыл бұрын
Similar accidents happened in Singapore too ~2016 but the lifts involved were built in the 90s & only had door bumpers plus a single laser beam ~1' above the ground, the former which won't detect the dog leash as it's too thin & soft & could wrap around it, still allowing the doors to fully close & the safety to connect. The latter meanwhile is too low to detect the leash. It's from the 21st century onwards when lifts were fitted with full-height infrared door sensors instead (which like the laser beam wouldn't close the door @ all in the 1st place if any obstruction is detected, unlike bumpers that have to close on the obstruction to detect it & thus be triggered to reopen the door), though public housing lifts typically now have both sensors & bumpers. Tragically in 2014 some security guards failed to switch the fire lift they were in to firemen mode when riding it to investigate a fire alarm upstairs, as the fire turned out to be in the lobby itself in 1 of the upstairs floors, with its smoke blowing immediately into the lift when it opened. The doors couldn't be closed as being not in firemen mode, the infrared sensors were not deactivated & mistook the smoke as an obstruction (though another theory is that the fire's heat expanded the doors until they warped & got stuck)
