It does feel great when you see that you have made progress. Two years ago, I was a shit rider, now I am comfortable saying I am delightfully mediocre. In two more years, I would like to be decent. I'm in better shape than I ever have been, and every day on two wheels is the best day ever since developing a bit of confidence. Wanting to get better was probably the best thing I ever did, apart from marrying my wife, and having my kid I guess.

Hats off to Barry for keeping riding after his spine injury and adapting to the situation by sitting even when it's not the best and most efficient technique.

Cheers AS. It's actually got me rethinking the standing/sitting thing so I might redo that video soon. I still think it's great to stand as much as possible when learning... but then eventually pick your moments when are equally good at both.

Man that exercise tip really hit close to home today. While riding today I realized how bad I was out of shape and how much it showed on my riding. I couldn't stand up for as long or hold on as well. This lead to me being less confident and not giving enough throttle, or sitting when I should have been standing which lead to many tip overs.

I've always loved riding in the low revs. And that technique came from upshifting to the highest gear possible as we rode the streets to the trails. We did that as not to annoy the non-riding neighbors

I was about to disagree with low revs but then hearing "untill you are ready to handle them", I instantly started to agree with you. it's always a pleasure see your videos guys! but why don't you make some teaching-video for rider with 4stroke? :-) I see your videos where almost they have 2strokes so it culd be fantastic get same learnig video (log, pivot, ect ). Fro example I have a Ktm 350 Exc and to pass slowly a log like tree on the ground I don't know exactley if is better use 1 or 2 gear with 4stroke :-))...thanks!
@crosstrainingenduro
@crosstrainingenduro 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately four strokes would be constantly overheating on our typical rides, Mark. And stalling a lot. And taking a fair bit more energy due to the top heavy weight etc. Our focus is hard enduro so we'd only be making it hard on ourselves with bikes less suited.

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast! This is 100% Jarvis. Applies to all manner of technical activities. Feels way better to be in 100% control but slow and deliberate than flat out and all over the shop hoping dumb luck will get you through. If you can nail it perfectly at a slow controlled pace, speed will come naturally. Maybe you can do a video on pacing. Ever notice a lot of people don't warm up on a bike, just tear off like demons at the start of the day but typically slow right down after 15 min lol

Hard to say, Ryan. So many variables. But yes, as the engine gets smaller you'll find less advantage of riding in a higher gear as there's very little power at low revs.
