Man i remember when i used to own a lifted GMC 1500....good time where i cruised around and people stare cause my truck would be all blacked out. Its all fun and games until you start having issues with how to handle the truck. One main thing i hated was parking....but the best thing i'll always miss is mudding with it and driving through rains and floods. I cry.

The 5.3 has more than enough power. Go back to the 1980’s and we were lifting Chevys 18” and installing 44” Ground Hawgs. Back then the standard engine was a 5.0 with 165 hp and 235 ft lb torque. Seriously todays puck up trucks could run 44” easily. Every thing about todays pickups are better. They have more than double the horse power and torque… often 3x. They have much larger brakes, 4 wheel disc…. Stronger axles and 10 speed transmissions turning 3.73 gears. Whats more amazing is they get pretty good gas mileage. If your soft on the pedal and plan your acceleration and coast to stop… it’s pretty easy to get 24-26 mpg in gasoline based trucks and 28-31 mpg in todays light GM diesels.

I had a lifted gmc truck for awhile. Definitely cool, turned heads. It was blacked out too. Dude at a stop light rolled his window down and said "its ironhide, man!" Still makes me laugh. Got like 1/2 mile per gallon. Sold it for my 22 Silverado. Stock height. Won't go back to a lifted truck. Way too hard to load the bed with stuff and I hurt my knee trying to hop off the tailgate.

35 inch tires reality arent that much larger than stock tires. The brakes and engine and steering will be able to handle that without any major upgrades. Now if you step up to the Big Boy 44 inch tires, then you need to do a lot of modifications and upgrades.

Dude it’s a 35 inch tire. Most stock tires are 32.5/33. That v8 will handle those tires no problem. That motor will laugh at those tires.

That’s what I have on my Ram. 4 inch lift with 35’s. Wouldn’t mind a 6 inch to get some 37’s but it would make it quite a lot taller.

Remote reservoir shocks are very tricky to tune for on road. I think people buy them because it's "better" and the eye candy. They are designed to work hard on very rough terrain like corrugated roads and competition. Over small bumps and uneven roads they generally underperform against a conventional shock. But who cares, it's not like the people who buy these trucks are making any remotely rational decisions.

Bad idea, unless off road use. It will really decrease the used truck's value - not covered by GM factory warranty. Bigger wheels and tires will decrease the acceleration unless gears in differentials are changed. Poor MPG too.

I've driven about 6 or so different lifted vehicles in my lifetime, each and every one of them sucked! I'd never lift a vehicle, cost money for what? To completely ruin how it drives so it looks 'cool'? Guess what? Nobody really cares if your car 'looks cool'. Btw; the most recent lifted vehicle I drove was a 2022 silverado 2500 hd gas with under 3k miles on it - owned by a guy who owns a construction company. It's one of his work trucks, but he doesn't cut corners so I assume everything was 'done right', ride and such is still ruined imho.

Turning radius sucks as a stock GMC truck. I can't imagine trying to turn with the offsets on the wheels.. it looks like you need 4 lanes just to make a u turn. Keep the GMC's stock, and you'll be happier with it.
