Ever had your leg trapped under a 500 lb motorcycle out riding by yourself?
Ever dropped your 500 lb motorcycle way out in where ever and couldn't get it up?
Lots of scenarios to contemplate for the rider. Having a device that could mitigate some of those scenarios and is easy to use seems like a no brainer.
Enter the Moto Winch from Eastbound, I think this device fits perfectly in the 'Self Rescue' category.
In this video I demonstrate the use of this device and why I think this item is a smart thing to carry while riding, especially if your riding a heavier motorcycle and/or riding alone!

That is awesome. I just got caught under my Himalayan. My foot and boot got caught in the frame in between the foot peg and passenger peg. It was an incredibly awkward angle and i couldn't get enough leverage to pick the bike up. Fortunately I was in a well used state park and I was able to call rhe park ranger and some other riders also helped me out. But it's really changed my view of riding and riding alone when I am off road.

Yup, getting trapped under a bulky, heavy bike is a very real scenario. Lucky for you you had options. Take your experience and place yourself 100 miles deep in the desert solo riding, gets interesting quick. Glad the outcome was good!

Older rider, core weakened by abdominal cancer surgeries, stopped riding dirt due to the dropped bike scenario. This thing is gold. I ordered one and Eastbound shipped it same day. Can’t wait to get back out there. Great video! 😎👍

I dropped my bike in a remote wooden trail as I was alone. I struggled so much to get my KLR back up that I ordered my motowinch the same day.

This is the most detailed video I've seen on the Motowinch. Very informative and useful. I'll be getting one soon. Thanks!

I love all the tools from Eastbound. I have all of their stuff including tire changing tools, axel nut wrench, the trail jack stand for when you need to support the front wheel if on the trail and needing to remove it. Everything is light, super compact, and well made. Great products and awesome company.

Must be a popular product, currently sold out on their website. That strap could double as a tow strap too.

Great video! One question: It seems to be ratcheting on the upswing (all the videos I’ve watched with it seem the same)…. Is there a way to setup the ratchet to lift on the downswing (I assume this would be easier as you can use your body weight to assist)??

If you need to use body weight then something is caught. The winch action should be light.

I keep my Eastbound Winch with me at all times!! The quality and function is amazing. I have the HD one with all the cool tire tools. The combo bead breaker is a must have for on the trail repairs.

Good vid mate. I bought the one for a heavier bike last year, and haven’t had to use it in anger, yet. Practiced at home on the lawn so used the foot plate to stop it sinking in. Never go anywhere without it and like you I keep it handy on the topside. I’ve seen demonstrations of using it when you’re trapped under the bike, using one less piece of pole, then able to free your boot etc, so all the more reason to keep it in reach. Amazing countryside. Cheers.

Fantastic review D! That is a first for me in lifting a motorcycle with mechanical help. No more Squats Jen! Hallelujah. Self rescue. Now There is a term we never hear but vital, and simple, as a first aid kit or whistle. Good stuff D. Keep up the great work. ( OCD LOL....I dont let the Himalayan get wet...) we just dont get that precipitation here. ( KLR, CRF, DR, YZ, and Alice?...5)

Great option since the Dirt Napper winch isn't available anymore from what I've heard. Thanks for the informative video.

If I'm not mistaken, it's the only option available. I searched for the Dirt Napper but it appears to be kaput. It's interesting more products aren't available for this type of situation here in the USA considering the large market for heavy, adventure bikes.

Yep, great tool to have. Bought one a few months ago after practicing picking up my bike in the back yard it wasnt easy then and it will be a whole lot harder out by myself and being tired. Its just not worth hurting your back to save a couple hundred bucks.

My thoughts exactly. I do a lot of solo riding into the backcountry, you go down and tweak your back trying to get the bike up...you got problems. Stay safe out there!

Pretty neat device….If you think the KLR is a chore to lift, you should try my Super Tenere fully loaded…Dropped it once in the Sequoia Natl Park and it was not possible by myself in the soft pine needles…Luckily I flagged down a truck with 4 guys in it and we managed to muscle that beast upright and I rode out…Lesson learned…I stick to the hard pack stuff unless I’m on my XR 650L 🤷‍♂️

That Super Tenere is one big bike, I would not want to be in the backcountry on one of those riding by myself. Spooks me when I do it on my KLR which is why I always have the winch strapped to the seat just behind me.

... I watched a video of a solo ADV rider out in bear country. He dropped his bike and had a hard time picking it up. He was already exhausted riding a heavy bike on a rough trail. He was extra stressed after finally getting the bike up. Now think about being solo, dropping it and having your leg/foot stuck under the bike in bear, cougar, rattlesnake, Sasquatch country. :-0 What if you get hurt in the crash and can't muscle the bike up? #don'tridealone . That winch device is badass! At first I was a little hesitant after hearing the price but once I saw you using it I knew right away that it was worth it. Especially considering your recent real world experience where it could have easily turned out much worse if other people were not around. I’ll definitely be looking at buying one of these! I love your content, keep it coming.

Spendy for sure but the price is worth the peace of mind, well...for me anyways. It's a mess dealing with a fully loaded KLR out in the bush by yourself, this device certainly helps mitigate some of that. Appreciate you watching!

if you dont mind show us what you do for flat tire on XT250 for example. Do you carry patch kit or tubes . Would you be laying XT250 down on side or have stand on a extra poke + side stand?
