I gotta ask man, what does your video making process look like? You're churning out content day after day, each up to 50 mins long, with wildly different topics. It seems like you write bulletpoints on what you want to talk about, then hit record and just run with it. If that's true, your flow is fantastic, and the fluency with which you move from point to point is really impressive.

I find that power-coppers are much like members of the body positivity movement: they live in denial, and reject their wrongings or outright deny factual information, because if we look at the aestethic bodytype, it defines health. A muscular frame, lean (signifying a moderated diet) and a will to build confidence through your own success rather than to put down others’ accomplishments to make yourself look better. I’ve heard of an old saying that is spread in african tribes; ”You become a better man when you can admit that you are wrong.” The blind pride and anxiety of power-coppers denies them the ability to acknowledge their wrongdoings, which is their downfall in the end.

I've actually heard this from someone online. Apparently, muscles from labour are manly, but the same muscles from working out is "feminine" because caring about looks is what women do. It's the same rhetoric with the "real word strength" crowd who say the strength gains from working out are meaningless because lifting stuff in real life will be in different and less comfortable positions. The amount of excuses people find to avoid working out is impressive.

It is pretty pathetic when you see what absolute rent boys some lifters are. Genuinely it is as if they are like very precious women. I personally thought people with muscles looked weird when I first started lifting. I think it's the same for most people, hence why many new lifters say, "I don't wanna get all huge and bulky", but 3 years later they will do anything to gain one more pound of muscle. Maybe it's the same with steroids. We nattys think they look weird, but they just can't get freakish enough in their own minds.

Idk if you just don’t hyper focus on people who juice, (unrealistic body images), then it’s pretty easy to keep your body dismorphia in check. That and just seeing average everyday people who don’t lift, or lift inconsistently/ with poor programming, it definitely keeps that dysmorphia in check. Yeah feeling better at the expense of others, even if you don’t voice it and it’s all internal, I don’t think is very good, but it is what it is. This video is great! For a second you had me thinking I was one of these power cope people! As I advocate towards strength but I care a lot about what I look like and have no problem admitting that. I guess this video showed me that what I actually am is a body builder that cares about my strength levels 😂. As you said there has to be a sacrifice, I suppose my sacrifice is body fat% at certain points in time so I can get strong and then other times sacrificing strength to look better at other times but never letting one or the other get out of control. I never push my strength to the point that I am fat and I never push my aesthetics to the point where I am a Greek god statue. I think where I go wrong is that I have massive strength standards for myself because I want to be strong but also somewhat aesthetically pleasing. But It’s all perspective, what I believe to be strong may be perceived as overboard. I would absolutely love to hear your strength standards and what you personally believe to be strong for recreational gym goers not competitive powerlifting or strong man. Also taking out the general untrained population, we all know that within 6 months of proper training you will be stronger then 95% of the population that does not train. I want to hear your thoughts on what you consider strong for natural lifters training for both strength and aesthetics, I’ll define aesthetically pleasing as around 13%bf Surly there are other people out there that want to look good and be strong, i understand that you can’t be the best at both. If any one reads this please reply with your strength standards as a bodybuilder or strength athlete, I am so curious to know what everyone considers strong
@joblakelisbon
@joblakelisbon 7 ай бұрын
The idea that there are standards for strength is self evidently a poor one. There are benchmarks, that's it. If you want overall strength and fitness benchmarks I think the physical requirements for military and SF operators are good criteria. If your strong enough for the most demanding physical activity there is: war, you're strong enough.

For me, I lift to increase: 1. strength to as many lifts possible (I see it as challenge and also useful in making every day tasks easier, ie. carrying groceries, gardening, ...) , 2. maximize "ευ ζήν", also know as maximize the "good longevity" (no pain/aches at 37, feeling perfectly comfortable just pulling off maximal sprints etc), 3. aesthetics (ofc, looking jacked is cool, isolation exercises for arms, forearms, calves and neck are a must for me).

He was arguing much the same point as was discussed in this video: that looks and lifting for them is vanity, and that this kind of activity is done only for the self, and cannot be for others. It just seemed insane to me, that the pursuit of masculinity, and building a body which others can see as reliable and strong, is solely an act of vanity. Hey NH! Binged your content, appreciate the quality of substance. Stopped using steroids about a year ago, I just did one t cycle regardless I crossed a line that I can not uncross. Every day my “rational” self carries with the weight of keeping my more “animal” self wanting to get back on steroids. I constantly feel the tension of being between a weak steroid user and a noble natty. I’m neither. What I’m I? Will I ever feel weightless again?

Even if it's feminine, it's still good to take care of yourself. A healthy person utilizes both energies in their everyday life and should be in tune with both even if they are obviously leaning towards one. Having boundaries and having goals is very masculine because it's rigid and very process oriented but everyone should engage with having goals and learning boundaries. Like that's so weird. A man who doesn't actually take care of his feminine energy is not a developed male. Same for women who avoid taking care of their masculine energy.

I've heard so many guys say "I don't care about building muscle" or "I wouldn't wanna get as big as YOU" and I'm always like, yeah I understand that's a nicer story to tell yourself than "I am a pathetic weakling that doesn't have what it takes to reach my goals". It's like the skinny fat nerd that says he's "happy about being single", also a nicer story to tell yourself than "I'm single because no sane woman would want to be with me" (no offence to single guys, I am too)

One thing about muscles is also that the achievement part is very important. Though i dont have muscles and i also havent personally experienced any supernatural phenomenons i think if i suddenly got very very muscular i wouldnt feel much confidence at all because i didnt deserve the muscles. Though i also imagine that part of it would be that it would be concerning to suddenly grow muscles out of thin air.

On the consumerism front, I think in some ways you're correct, but you'll also find a lot of lifters jumping on every fad supplement trend and decking themselves out in GymShark clothes.

@@AliAhmed-xw5hb No, I see a lot of experienced lifters with years of experience who are still into the consumerism side of lifting, especially with supplements. You'll also see it with home gym equipment sometimes, too. And, uh, I'm not exactly immune to it, either. I buy new stuff for my home gym that I don't need (like a biceps blaster). I try new supplements that I know won't have a big impact on my results (like ashwagandha). I buy lifting and nutrition programs. I subscribe to research reviews.

Not being muscular is femanine. Being okay with being weak is femanine. Not being able to workout because you had a rough day is femanine. I can go on, if they say something about you it's cause they don't like themselves. Ignore such individuals, they are not worth the air they breath. Whoever said being aesthetic is femanine prob just hates how femanine they actually are. Just focus on yourselves, no one can change that.

I thought that incels coined the term looksmaxxing? I’m like 80% certain that they’re adamant that appearances matter (hence “gymcels that make it”). As far as /fit/ goes, a lot of comments of that type are just trolling in good fun (Zyzz was their mascot for a while). In my experience, “bodybuilding is feminine” type of cope mostly comes from people who just began powerlifting and worship Mark Rippetoe, Barbell Medicine etc (I respect Rip, and don’t care for BM at all, but their fans are insufferable). But I think that abusing tren, putting your health on the line for cosmetic purposes is feminine in a bad way. It seems that it’s expected for men to care about their appearance to some extent, but there exists a range bookended by coping dyels/bloatards powerlifters and weirdos injecting synth into their balls

No we talk about strength as in bench, squat, and deadlift. A guy with a few belts in karate who bodybuilds on the side will not develop their squat, bench, and deadlift more than a powerlifter. Such an insecure cope comment lol. Just own your own shit, no need to seethe about powerlifting.
