Lovely trousers, and such good tips. I see a few advantages with your waistband method. As you said, less bulk at the sides. I also think it will be easier to adjust or replace the elastic inside, which I sometimes do if it stretches out a bit. I also like the idea of trying on the front+back, even without the waistband. With the original instructions, you won't get an Ultra-Last Call for Fitting. And another advantage for me specifically, is that I can move the place where the elastic ends. I have a big(ger) difference between my hips and my waist, and if I want more elastic I can bring it, say, to line up with the pocket opening. Big thanks, Karina!

Hi Karina.GENIUS! So much better . Poppy pants are my favourite pants of all time, I have 4 pairs that I wear constantly, but there will be more this winter. Thank you so much for your fantastic videos that are my go to library of how to do anything. I have been sewing all my own clothes for many years now, but I still learn something new or better every time. Have a great summer.

I’m so glad you did a re-review of this pattern. I’ve been looking for exactly this style of pant, and I’ve already ordered a copy. I just love your sewing tutorials and the way you talk about which fabrics to use🥰

Thank you, thank you! I have sewed this pattern a few times already and love the fit of these pants. I have even made my daughter in law two pairs. But the waist band has always been a bit difficult to sew. Thank you for making this even easier to sew!!!

This pattern does look really comfortable and easy to make. The print you used looked wild, but ended up looking very nice on. I'll have to think hard about what print to use for my pants. Thanks for showing us more versions of these pants.

I have a long back crotch length and I find that I have to slash and spread for a wedge so much that it makes the center back really wonky. I find extending the crotch points on the back works better for me and scooping a little. Love your pants! Great job!
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
That’ll work if you have fuller thighs. Otherwise that can give baginess between the legs.

I've made 3 Poppy Pants & really like the way they're constructed. I'm going to try the reverse waistband on my next pair though!! Those green pockets look great on the back. I also like to use a complementary fabric on the pockets or inner waistband too!!

Hi Karina! I love your videos 💗 As you live in Brazil do you can consider to make a few ones in Portuguese? I'm from Portugal and there isn't anything like that in my language. It would be a lot of people in Portugal and Brazil glad with that.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
It would not make sense to make content in Portuguese in this channel. The language has to remain only one for algorithm purposes.

Hello Karina. I have followed you for a long while; this is my first time commenting. Just curious if you have heard of the "top down center out" method of fitting pants that is taking the sewing world here in the U.S. by storm. If you are interested, there is a blogger that I think does the best job describing the method. She did a whole series. Your can find her on KZbin at "The Crooked Hem." Love what you do Karina; your blog is great.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
Yes I have but I’m not planning to adopt it or make any content around it. I’m perfectly happy at the moment and there are several aspects of that method that don’t resound with my logic at all. It’s not for everyone and it’s not for me. There are many ways to do things that this method does not invalidate what has already worked for decades.
@cleanqueen752 жыл бұрын
I too am wondering what you think about the “top down center out” method. Would love to see you sew a pair of pants using this method.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
I am not planning on using that method. I'm being honest so you don't expect that type of content from me.
@cleanqueen752 жыл бұрын
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles just curious! What don’t you like about it?

Nice job. I wonder if I can use this method to make the waistband on the Pietra pants?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
That’s different because the Pietra has a facing on the front and a waistband only at the back. It wouldn’t work the same.
@Yorkygirl592 жыл бұрын
The new waistband technique is genius! I really struggled with the original method to get it to look neat. Only thing I noticed is that you did not sew across the middle of the back elastic to keep it in place. Is that not needed? Will it curl up?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the elastic. I’ve sewn it in the middle only if the elastic is super flimsy. This is heavy non roll elastic so it didn’t need to.
@Yorkygirl592 жыл бұрын
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles The elastic in my original Poppy Pants was quite heavy duty, but I'm not sure if it's non roll, but I did sew it across the back. I was thinking I would have maybe preferred two rows of narrower elastic. Anyway, I will definitely try this new method of attaching the waistband and see what types of elastic I can get. Many places here in the UK were out of stock before.

What is wrong with a pant pattern when it pulls across the upper thighs? thank you
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
Can you be more specific? Pulls across or up towards the crotch only?
