Great vid! I've been working in the industry for 16 years, now the lift training supervisor, and I couldn't imagine not being out there in the winter. This shows a great slice of the average day in a lifty's life.

My first full time job was as a lift operator at Winter Park, CO during the 98/99 season. It was great fun and hard work...but I was nearly decapitated one morning by a returning chair while removing snow in front of the bottom terminal. If I hadn’t dropped to the ground at the last moment as the chair passed over, I’d have been a dead man. So some of that footage gave me chills! Ten years later, I broke my leg snowboarding into a tree and have had to curtail my winter sport pursuits. Now I’m 40 and have one foot in the grave anyway, but they sure were good memories. Great vid!

Benny McGhee haha! I took one to the head in 96!! Lol. Chair 4 at telluride was ours for the year. Many great times. We used to see who would hang off the back of the chair for the longest. Probably not anymore.

@@axewolfe1759 I worked the Pioneer mainly, which was a beautiful lift to work based on its location on the far side of the mountain. So chill and idyllic. Terrible for a first full-time job, though! No job I've worked since has even come close to being as enjoyable as that one :P.

LIFTIES ROCK!! Been one at Bristol mountain since '87... yup I'm an old liftie now😁 the landscape rakes and snowballs are my best friends😁.. we like to send the plastic owl up the lift(supposed to keep birds out of the terminal) I run a Doppelmayer detach quad... it's MY lift I have been with her since "conception" 10seasons ago, it is on the advanced side of the resort and I get away with lots of fun stuff... our guests love the radio cranking and a wipe off board with joke of the day... and other unimportant stuff like date etc😂... love the vid and YES to every free minute shredding up the hill.. right now spring is awesome as snowmakers and night shift lifties are looking for hours🙄they get several of my shifts so I can ski from my lift😂🙄❤️

Great video! I liked the snowman taking a ride that was pretty funny. Even the snowballs you were throwing at the snowboarder was great too. From what I've assessed and from experience the best people out on the slopes are the Lifties. They're nice and have a sense of humor. I even made friends with a lifty one year. Instead of progressing when I was skiing by myself, I'd constantly go down the beginners hill just so I could talk with my liftie friend. I miss him, I think he quit or retired last season since I didn't see him last season or this season for that matter. I have finally progressed and am an intermediate skier. I tried to get a job as a lift operator, but didn't get it a few years back, I guess because during the interview the guy questioned the distance of my home to the resort and probably the second I left the application was thrown out.

I was a Lifty for many seasons. 15 since "85" fun job when you're young, lots of skiing if you work at a resort like China Peak where we ride on the clock, most do not.

Love that ski hill but man, it can take the word "cold" to a pretty low level. Hit it on a warm day, say 10F or warmer and you'll have one of the best days ever. PS: Awesome vid!
