21:00 I imagine that Rem was moved by her friend (the other shinigami, Jealous) giving his life for Misa. And since (as Ryuk explained at the beginning of the show) shinigamis don't feel they have a higher purpose or reason to live, and they just spend their time gambling or lying around, I think that Rem thought her friend's sacrifice was something meaningful in comparison, and after his death protecting Misa became her mission, a worthwhile reason to live. At least that is the impression I get from the show.

i think L does think of Light as a friend to some extent but also I think he mainly said that for the purpose of catching Light off guard. Idk their relationship is really interesting and I think it's supposed to be ambiguous. it does make me sad though :(

According to Ohba and Obata, L said that mainly to gauge Light`s reaction and neither Light,L nor his successors actually understand what a true friendship might look like(Light because he`s a God complexed psychopath driven by a warped view of justice and his own pride and is such a talented liar by the end of the series he`s fooled himself into not recognizing how bad he truly is deep down and the Wammy Kids because they are sheltered,quirky,antisocial,ND detectives/Mafia bosses and drivers.)

When you finish Death Note watch Code Geass Lelouch Of The Rebellion. That series is simply popular where the main protagonist is basically a lot like Light he’s very intelligent but his intentions of his changing the world is different

Light using Misa? No, he couldn't do that. That would go against his principles. Edit: And about L seeing Light as a friend, I do think there is some truth to that. L probably does see Light as a friend, however, I'm very certain that he would never say that if he didn't see it being beneficial. From L's perspective, if Light is Kira, he might hesitate to kill him after L said that.
