Interesting presentation. Sixteen years ago I rolled through the emergency room door of my veterans hospital. They told me if I had waited 24 more hours I'd be dead because the calcium level of my blood was so high. I rolled through that door with stage 4B Multiple Myeloma Kappa light chain variety. I had three rounds of chemo with three different drugs each time in hospital. They couldn't control the disease so I opted for a transplant. That transplant saved my life. I went into remission for three years, and then the disease came back. This time they used a drug called Relimide and I took that for six months. That put me back in remission and I've stayed that way all these years. The physician who wrote the report on my disease described my skull as being moth eaten with some holes as big as dimes. All that Chemo including the massive dose during the transplant to knock out my immune system destroyed much of my endocrine system as well as enlarging the left side of my heart. Also, five of my vertebrae collapsed and I lost four inches in height within six months. Over a two year period I had kyphoplasty done on all five vertebrae and that allowed me to get off my walker and stop the massive doses of morphine and fentanyl patches i was on for pain. Two years ago my light chains started to rise again, but have stayed in that elevated level without further progress. A Bone marrow test showed the cancer hadn't come back, but they can't account for the increase in Kappa light chains. My kidney numbers (Egfr etc) have remained stable. I'm waiting for something to happen since having elevated light chains must be damaging something. Oh yes, three years ago I had a major heart attack and am suffering from some degree of heart failure. The fact my left side was already enlarged didn't help matters.

This sounds a little weird, but getting an autopsy of your parents is very informative. I reccomend getting medical genetic studies on all of your relatives, also. One of my parents had amyloidosis on autopsy. There are different reasons for this finding. I encourage everyone to get a good family medical history. Have a good physician put all the pieces of the puzzle together to better understand your risks.

My mother has kappa light chain. They did a biopsy of her heart. She's 79. My father died at 73 from amyloidosis and multiple myeloma. If it's such a rare disease, how come both my parents got it?

That’s a really good question. Are you seeing a geneticist?

@@PrevMedHealth Thank you for this video. I have been researching high and low for information on Light Chain Deposition Disease. Skeletal images show no bone damage. My kidneys are at stage 4 damage. I have been on chemo for 8 months, seen multiple doctors/specialists with no improvement. Any suggestions? Do I go on dialysis to avoid additional damage to other systems? ~ Thank you for your time! Any additional information you suggest is greatly appreciated.

I have been really enjoying your highly informative videos and your open minded approach. You addressed leaky gut a bit in a previous video on "Restore" but could you talk more about this? I hear so much about leaky gut and how detrimental gluten is but I cant help but wonder if this really a thing and not just the latest health myth. A nutritionist who also has a KZbin channel that I watch, who seems to be quite knowledgeable and references science rather than speculation says that there is no evidence that permeable intestinal walls is a cause rather than a symptom of diseases like Celiacs Disease and Crohn's Disease. Thanks! kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZqrn6iBhJiCn9U
