Awesome video Reo! I love how people are giving you a hard time on your hunting arrow setup. Yet, you’re one of the greatest archers to ever touch a bow. Hats off to you sir! It’s unfortunate some people would rather take archery advice from other self-proclaimed KZbin “experts” vs the REAL archery experts like yourself. Keep the videos coming Reo, we love them!

Great setup and looking forward to the results this season from the Sevr Hybrid. I have been real happy that Idaho has finally allowed lighted nocks, sometimes I just don't understand what they are thinking when it comes to some of their archery regs. Also, the comment section just shows that the community isn't getting any better at just accepting information and knowledge without calling out other shooters and validating their own setups.

i’ve been shooting a similar setup past few years . easton procomp 250s with deep 6 expandables (460 gns)and this setup worked great on many elk, deer (coues&muleys) and one sheep. this year i went even lighter spine and weight (416gn)to parallel pro 300 same bhead and ended up taking a nice pronghorn with a less than ideal shot. these are pricey shafts and i shed a tear when i press the trigger but you cant deny the results.

My bows are all 64 - 65 lbs @ 26.5" draw length, and I've always shot Axis 400 arrows at 385 grains, and now, I've been able to build Victory RIP XV Gamer 300 arrows to 380 grains. Both arrows have served me well and have blown through deer flying at 280 - 290 fps, depending on which bow I'm shooting.

I shot low FOC 400ish grain arrows my whole life with fixed heads and never had a problem with penetration. I tried to do the same with mechanical's and had shockingly horrible results. I lost a couple because of it. I bumped up to 455 grains with 15% FOC and started getting passthroughs again. No way in hell would I shoot a sub 400 grain arrow with a mechanical, even a Sevr 1.5. Yes, if the deer is dead broadside and you only hit ribs you will get the job done, but it just isn't the best. That same arrow would be risky on larger pigs and elk. Everything works until it doesn't.
@tray22
@tray22 4 күн бұрын
Your results mimic mine however I totally stopped shooting mechanical heads because they all will eventually fail even with a proper arrow setup. We have auto insurance for vehicle accidents, I shoot simple fixed heads for the same reason. When you are always hitting the mark almost any broadhead will take down the deer. Deer move, we mess up a little on our shots, and then there are unknown factors. Getting rid of that mechanical head really simplifies the setup and it saves money/arrows in the long run.

I think yhe whole arrow weight and speed controversy is such a joke..a lot of guys saying heavy arrows dont shoot as accurate and such stuff is silly cuz if they don't its a tuning problem..the crazy spped guys that want 290 plus fps .im guessing most of them didn't hunt back in the 80s when 220 was blazing fast and we actually had sharp out of the box broadheads. We shot plenty of bucks around 40 yrds and the guys out west were killing elk and stuff at 50 and 60..

That setup will not go through heavy bone. You might be a great archer and never hit a heavy bone, but most weekend hunters might need something with a little more momentum behind it to survive a heavy bone hit. Maybe you didn't know, but some guys torque their bows sometimes.

@Practice2Perfection
@Practice2Perfection 3 ай бұрын
@tailchasers722 it's not just breaking a bone you hit, it is braking a bone you hit, and still getting a pass through on the animal. I've been bow hunting long enough to know that the difference between a 400gn set up and a 550gn set up in penetration(both using single bevel broadheads) the difference is pretty outstanding. You can't explain away the gain in momentum with some anecdotal tale.

Easton, nice. 🇺🇸AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!🇺🇸 SEVR is the first mechanical to ever pass ABF's testing. 381 grains is way too light for a hunting arrow if you ask me, but whatever. You are Reo Wilde. I bet you would not take that arrow on an African dangerous game hunt. So it is not a "Do it all arrow."
