My Grandma is Swedish and taught me about Saint Lucia when I was very young. Every year around Christmas time I dress up in a white gown with a wreath of candles on my head to deliver pastries to my grandparents in bed. This video makes my day :)

@@eigokanis8099 It is about midwinter. When the earlier calendar ended, midwinter had moved to te 13th. So the Lucia celebrations were about how things would now become brighter. Lucia is not a big tradition today compared to with only a generation ago. But, so it is about the winter solstice

I live at the south of the world, in Argentina, but always felt connected to Norway and Sweden, in many many ways. Now I just learned that my moms name is a part of their culture, and everything makes so much sense. She passed away when I was eight, and she was, just as her name said, a light, this is such a beautiful tradition, thank you so much for sharing it with us. It encourages me to keep chasing after the sunshine that her moonlight left behind, to share it with everyone that wants to listen and find her in the way there.

You know, I am french. I spent 5 years in wonderfull Sweden and visited Scandinavia (from the very north to the vey south). Back to France I took Lucia with me :-) Because I found this celebration so beautifull and so meaningfull. I shared and share it with my friends and neighbour. This year Lucia was even more significant than Christmas maybe because of The Covid: There is so much hope in this celebration. Light versus the darkness.

Words cannot express how beautiful this was. I understand that she sings about Santa Lucia, but as a Witch and a Pagan, I visually see this as a ceremony for Hulda or Frau Holle. Wishing everyone blessed Winter holidays!!!

Lucia festival was a huge part of my childhood. I participated in Lucia pageants for years, eventually becoming the Lucia Bride. I love this video. An interesting interpretation of the song. Usually it's in a major key, but this version is hauntingly beautiful.
