LUCIA - The night of light

Lucia is a tradition in Sweden where we bring light to the darkness. Since many years back I have always gone out in the middle of the Lucia night to light up hundreds of candles in the forest, with the intention to spread light into the world. Maybe you have seen my earlier lucia-films here on my KZbin.
But this year was special. Just as the other lucia-nights I prepared to get out and light up my candles. But this night, the forest surprised me :)
This film is for all the world. For all of you wonderful people out there ♥ I hope to be able to spread some light into your hearts.

This is my favorite Lucia film ever. I remember being so inspired by it last year that I made my own this year. I didn't even freeze at all, wandering through the woods with my little candle. Lucia is a great tradition but it's not actually a folk tradition, it was created as a mix of German and Scandinavian traditions together with the myth of the Syracusan Saint, only 100 years ago by the Stockholm upper class. The tradition is alive and well, and evolving, as traditions are. In fact, this video is a great example of how the Lucia expression can be done differently.

My third grade teacher taught her class about Lucia every year. The kids and her would all bake special cookies and we would go around and sing at other classrooms. I learned more in that one year than all of high school. Thanks Mrs. Shecter!

When I was a child, my primary school had a teacher with Danish and Swedish roots. Rikhard was his name, but we just called him Riku. So of course he made sure Lucia's day was celebrated with a proper little parade. Here in Finland most primary schools do the Lucia's parade, at least the schools in my area, but his parade was always very much more beautiful. They'd sing the song in Finnish, but when Rikhard's class became the oldest in the school, they sang one verse in Swedish. This video brang me back to the days when I watched in awe and in a bit of jealousy as the girl playing Lucia led the parade around the school hall, nervous as she was the only one holding a real candle.

She's really an example of St. Lucia because she brings light wherever she is, for everyone she knows and everyone she doesn't know....it's as if God put her on this planet to light up other people's life...even though she's so young (early thirties), she has gone through so much pain and suffering and pains of the heart and soul, and still yet longing to find the one that's destined to be her husband, father of her future children, and love of her life. She brings so much happiness to others, and still she waits for God's blessings with a family of her own. Today, I entered KZbin looking for something special to send to her via text, something about Santa Lucia....and God brought me to your beautiful and meaningful videos....and I am just in so much peace, and filled with something special which is very hard to put into any language known to me or to humanity...it's just felt in the deepest being of our essence. God knows and those who feel the same way also know what I cannot express with words. Thank you so much. I have subscribed to your KZbin and I will take time to see your other presentations and gifts to us all.
