I am pleased to be the sole comment. Visited San Rocco with my partner Dascha, a beautiful green eyed Russian artist about 20 years ago. We arrived early in the morning and there was no one there. At that time large rectangular mirrors with wood frames and cylinders on each end were used by visitors whom instead of straining their necks staring up, could hold the cylinders on each side and by walking around see the reflections of the Tintoretto paintings on the ceiling of this enormous room. Suddenly Dascha holding her side of the painting began rapidly moving in a circle, we were really dancing and smiling myself on one side and her on the other. The colours of Tinteretto went spinning in our heads, exactly as the master might have wished. It was the most moving and beautiful moment of our relationship. This is difficult to visualize unless one has been there because in a sense one is enclosed and saturated by Tinteretto colours. Sadly she passed away a few years later. I think about her every day.

Thanks Christopher, your words are really touching our hearts. We're sorry to hear your sad story but agree on how magic the Scuola Grande di San rocco is.
