Light Mech Superiority - Medium Laser Kit Fox Build - Mechwarrior Online The Daily Dose 1549

This gameplay tutorial for Mechwarrior Online shows you how to utilize your Mech to it's best extent. I'll give you a rundown of the build and what it is made for and show you the actual combat role in two games on the battlefield.
Mechwarrior Online is a competitive first person shooter where you build and pilot massive Mechs and prove yourself on the battlefield. The game is based on the Battletech franchise, which originally was a science fiction tabletop game in the 80s. Big part of the game is configuring your loadout and find the best match of missile, ballistic and energy weapons for your playstyle. The weapon variety ranges from devastating autocannons over particle projectors to deadly arrays of laser beams. On the battlefield your team of 12 Mechwarriors fight the enemies on rather small arena-type maps. Teamwork is crucial here because a single Mech does not survive long if it steps in front a full firing line. Communication and teamwork is key on your journey to glory and victory.

I am using Haven Kendrick's Soundpack! Download it here: / haven_kendrick . To install, simply locate your Mechwarrior Online installation folder, open "Game" and you will see lots of .pak files. Drop the sound mod file into that folder with the other .pak files, restart the client, and you are good to go!

The really fun thing about the kit fox as a mech is just how ridicolously customizable it is while allowing it to do just about everything well. Doesn't matter what sort of game environment or team you have. There's literally a kitfox configuration for that. And since it's an omnimech, if it doesn't support that configuration already, buy the part that lets you. All win, really.

I mean, you literally just described pretty much every omnimech in the game. Personally I find the Kit Fox to be way too slow for it's tonnage, and I think PGI have really overestimated how useful their implementation of ECM is, it's never stopped me from firing at a mech that I wanted dead.

​@@thewardenduncan The kitfox can carry almost half it's tonnage in weapons and support equipment while still having full armor. That's literally all variants in the game stock without switching omnipods, by the way. It is one of if not the only light mechs currently in the game that can carry a UAC-20, LBX-20, or AC-20 and enough ammunition to make it worth it. One variant can carry enough SRM's to do close to 150 damage a volley. The omnipods let you turn it into just about specialist or support role you could want it to have. It has great cockpit visibility, excellent arm and torso twist speed and range for a light, and can easily be configured to put out a lot damage fairly quickly for not a lot of heat incurred. It can albeit with some difficulty fit 4 ER large lasers and enough heat sinks and armor to have it far outperform mechs as much as 20-30 tons heavier in terms of both potential damage and survivability. Even the few areas it can be said to have a deficit against other light mechs, it's height making it unable to hide behind cover mechs like the flea and locust can, and it's somewhat lackluster inital heat sinking for an all energy clan mech build is a lot less of an issue then you'd think.

@@aaronbosen6743 Lol, sure mate. I've never actually seen a Kit Fox effectively utilize any of those "incredible" weapons loadouts you're talking about, since they are not remotely capable of evading enemy fire and despite your indications otherwise, they have no more armor on average than any other 30 ton mech, almost all of which are capable of running 30+ kph faster than them. Worst mech in the game, imo.

@@aaronbosen6743 That's cute :) I would bet I've been playing tabletop Battletech longer than you've been alive based on your general demeanor and presentation. I also have just under 1600 hours in HBS Battletech (usually with BTA3062 installed), 520 hours in Mechwarrior 5, and hundreds more in Mechwarrior 3+4 between all their expansions. Only played about 12 hours of MWO, due to the all-too-common occurrence of running into people like you and ruining the experience, so you've got me on that one. I just don't think the Kit Fox is a "good" mech, sorry mate, that's never gonna change.

I don't mind recommending Hero mechs at this point. PGI gives out a whole lot of MC during events. If you just wait for an in game sale, you can pick one up pretty easily. Unless you're my friend who constantly spends MC on GSP.

I agree 100% I have 8000 MC saved up from events, I've been looking for something interesting with a new quirk pass or a hero mech on sale but haven't decided on anything yet.

Always switch one leg out to get a JJ! This tiny mech only needs one to get stuff done vertical! :) And instead of using AMS go LAMS if you need more ammo, lots of LRM makes you not really wanna show yourself anyway!

Yeah, using the S right leg gets your to JJs, though it cost a ton so you'd have to drop a heat sink or otherwise tweak things.

Well, the walk around to get back up over and over AND hurting legs for no reason on some larger maps. Position position position for the little fox. I think the leg with JJ got nice bonus for the internals so loose half a ton of armor on the legs. Often just using 1 ton AMS-ammo for the burst to help against the lurmer my team SHOULD kill and if I am the target in cover (NARCed or PPCed my ECM) I even turn AMS of a few seconds.

On that first battle, you had the second best score, second most damage and second most KO with a light support mech :P GG And surviving that second battle was impressive in itself, and you got the second best score again.

This mech is one of my most played, stay with your team give them ecm and ams and spam your lasers. Played correctly can win games by itself.

I love the Purifier base chassis. I run mine with 2ERML in each side torso, a G left arm for the ECM (everyone aims for the right arm), an S leg with JJs for mobility, and a HLL in the right arm. It's an incredible backstabber. Gets a bit hot if you're overeager, but the range is good, and the damage is good.

Kit fox is awesome especially at lower levels due to all the missles that fly around. However at the Higher levels like where Baradul plays at most players don't go in with full LRM builds which makes the Kitfox far less appealing.

so i wathed phil take out a dire wolf with 5 lbx 5's and it was with a kit fox that just wouldnt die and took way more shots these things are way op as far as durability goes

I played this mech, in that build, a couple of days ago and died from overheating because I was shooting down so many missiles! **EDIT** I did NOT have this exact build I had replaced one of the legs from another so that I could have jump jets. This cut down on the number of heat sinks I could carry.

@@darrenskjoelsvold they drastically reduced the heat laser AMS produce a good while back. I run 3-4 pretty regularly. He must have been shooting down a *LOT* of missiles.
