The #1 thing they need to avoid is the world feeling empty. Some of those views look barren; what's the point of a huge world if it feels lacking
@jessicalawson1417Ай бұрын
Mobs are probably generated out of specific zones, like ruins, temples, and dungeons. So you are probably not going to run into many hostile mobs in the overwork that aren’t otherwise neutral, like plants and animals. But if the biome generation is dense enough then you probably have multiple of those PVE areas per zone.

More space to build bases. If every single region is crowded with mobs it could pose as a significant annoyance when you all you want is to build. Having mobs crowding every single area is also counter-intuitive, and would actually make the world feel less immersive.

After seeing the B-roll footage, my guess is that all of the free updates to NMS are actually related to LNF's development, which means that LNF is much further along in development than we might think and will have much to do. I really do think a lot of the new tech and cool stuff we get in NMS are hand-me-downs from LNF bc these dlc updates have been free even tho I'd pay for them personally. LNF is gonna be big and I'm here for it
@KolbaarАй бұрын
BTW there was a quick mention of a similar roll-out as NMS, which was on PC and PS initially. Whether it sticks to that agenda, it’s at least a good guess on rollout. All us NMS players know they are beta testing elements for LNF in NMS, like water effects and fishing, etc. That would be actual new news other than what we reiterated here. That and the data mining finding creatures suspiciously like ones found in NMS (dev use, was never meant for us to see).

@shanemabus25 күн бұрын
I don't think we'll get updates quite as frequently as NMS, but I think they'll add cool stuff as the game ages. I get the impression that a lot of the updates to NMS were created as prototypes for LNF. I do think that we'll get a much fuller game from LNF than we got with NMS.

No mans sky is a delight to start fresh on, especially these days, The only negative to starting fresh is some aspects of the game which are quite important to possess are locked behind quest progression and the quest is very lengthy with minimal replay value, 2 times is okay but after that, especially if like me youre on youre 3rd multihundred hour playthrough and have also died in perma death 3 times, the quests have certainly lost their charm, which is why the 'Expeditions' are so excellent, i've done most of them and i think every single expedition unlocks the portal keys as your progress in the expedition, and you can then use that new playthrough to start fresh and unlock the portals without needing to redo the whole questline again, but you can still do the questline if you want, its there uncompleted for you, but you can also just jump on your existing playthrough and go to the anomaly and start expeditions from there, though ive never tried it that way before, i've just seen the interaction there, so i cant really comment on what it actually does, since i dont know. But its an excellent game and has come a long way. Hell i've still got it installed cos its such a small download and I generally play it atleast once a year starting from fresh or from an expedition. I find the most enjoying part to be the struggle at first, once i get through that struggle again i get bored cos I already have like 6 playthroughs which are all heavily progressed in different paths, Ive made fortunes from mining, horticulture, manufacturing, ship salvage, pirateering, relic/artifact hunter all on seperate playthroughs, i've literally spent hundreds of hours hoping through galaxies, i've hopped through the first 16 galaxies on one playthrough i've got a ship which can hop over 3k LY per hop, and considering black hole jumping only brings you about 10k LY closer to the core each black hole, I can easily just hop 4 times in my ship quicker than finding blackholes to jump through especially taking into account there is more loading time while using blackholes compared to just hoping in my ship.. Mind you im talking about a time years ago when you could fill your ships inventory with mods, nowadays you cant do that and likely wouldnt be able to achieve the same stats i had going. But nowadays there is much easier access to upgrading freighters and freighters can jump really far when maxed out, Its seriously such a good game, if my PC wasnt dying, and takes the game literally 15minutes to load, I would play it so much more, but honestly after unlocking all the new robot race stuff and other new stuff, I cbf waiting for my busted ass PC to load the game and then play the game poorly with mini freezing and long as load screens, crashes which makes doing missions kinda impossible, all cos my PC is old and abused, not the games fault. Its seriously come so far to as a game, I played since the very beginning back on Ps4 and then got it on PC like 7 years later, so i remember the times of falling through the map mining and all sorts of game breaking nonsense, massively disproportioned animals running around lol that was hilarious. In the beginning the tutorial was so subtle i didnt even know it existed and i still managed to become wealthy enough to buy a freighter just from mining gold for ages, then i discovered if i had of just followed the tutorial i coulda got a freighter for free hahahahaha

As much as I love the idea of a fully shared world, where I can run around and encounter other people and their builds and the potential for communities to build literal in game cities. I don't like the theoretical implications that could lead to. Such as groups of players finding ways to control resources in various regions or for players to grief another players build, if not directly, than by altering the area around a build effectively messing up the area surrounding their build. But, if they handle it like how Elite Dangerous handles it. Where There is a live, shared world, and the options to have a private version that just you and some friends can join, that would be perfect. You might think I am worried over nothing, that it will be so big that people wont have to worry. But that would be under estimating the lengths people will go to just to screw with other people sometimes.

One thing we can count on...they won't release it until it's fully polished and ready. They spent years learning that lesson and did an admirable job...I say this with all the wisdom of hindsight. LNF has been on my radar and wish list for the past 2 years. The only apprehension I have is how they will handle the "servers". In Enshrouded, you have to host in order for your friends to play with you. That's a such a pain and so limiting in terms of logging on when ever you can/want.

I had no idea a game like this was in the works, nor that it was from the No Man's Sky devs. I agree that this could be something special if done well (and it looks like it might be). I just hope the multiplayer isn't MMO-level (progress locked behind group instances/dungeons, open PvP, that sorta thing). Also really hope there's magic. The game has 1 major issue they need to overcome - the shallow lifeless world with generic creatures and no real settlements / villages / cities and underwhelming npcs like in No Man's Sky. NMS has this huge flaw since release that is not fixable because it is designed that way. IF this game really does the whole generic procedural generated world stuff incl. NPCs and creatures - hell no. This would be a huge no no for me.

The flying looks like a 1 to 1 copy of NMS and NMS had pretty shitty flying mechanics for a space age game where you fly a lot, it makes even less sense for creatures to behave like arcade space ships.
