- Not an MMO, think 16 to 32 player lobbies. Invite only and public instances. Maybe the globe is broken into server instances, so as you pass through a new zone (region of the planet and it's assigned server) you seamlessly trigger a new instance that can populate X amount of players. Like, if it's capped at 16 and you only have 8 in your party (invite only) but the world is set to a public instance, then as you leave Zone A (server) and enter into zone B (server) the game will locate other players occupying that geographical space and populate them in your world automatically. I think my theory is a good way to do it. Servers dedicated to geographical zones that can emulate the feeling of an Earth sized world appropriately populated, while managing server bandwidth. - Don't expect Bethesda/Bungie levels of spec and RPG elements, this is an indie studio after all. RPG-lite is spot on. - Examine NMS as an indicator of what to expect on a gameplay and narrarive level. - This is a GAAS type project. It will continue to be updated for years after launch with new content, community events and more. It may be light on content day one but it's an evolving game and HG know how to support their titles. - This will most likely be a competent survival game, with RPG-lite mechanics, a contained coop experience and driven by an intriguing narrative hook/mystery. - The game should also feature a discovery system just like NMS. However, because it's one shared world and the bandwidth would be insane, the system may be updated globally once a week. Only local discoveries are updated on the daily for yourself to see. Just some thoughts 🎉

Steam page says solo and co-op. So it won't be an MMO. Think of the server side, and how No Man's Sky allowed players to get together, how you could invite other players or not, with a game that could totally be played solo! It's an RPG. It will have traders to sell to/buy from. You won't need auctions! Also, "after a few 100 hours of gameplay" who cares if it THEN becomes repetitive?!

The problem with procedural generation in Starfield is that, instead of being one giant sandbox to kick around in, it was an endless series of tiny sandboxes separated by loading screens. It just doesn't work as a sandbox, and it actually detracts from what is already (to my taste) an entirely lackluster RPG. What I find delightful about NMS is precisely that it really works as a sandbox, complementing what story and backstory the developers have introduced.

Yeah it's definitely ambitious, I'm currently thinking procedural world as in : for a world that massive in size to be possible to be developed : Much how NMS was procedurally built : but we share that procedurally generated world in a way akin to NMS, so if we both go to the exact same location, it is what it is. But yeah, big hand crafted dungeons they can add over time or even a bit of tech to make it easier for them to procedurally create 100s of dungeons at a time across the vast size of the world. Whatever they end up doing, I'm interested

I don't think folks trully understand what Hello Games is doing here... a planet size Earth means nothing, there is already games with this size, what trully matters in LNF is that you could actually circunavigate the world, you can start to move in one direction and ended up where you started. Thats the true beuaty of LNF, but if you doubt about that, all you have to do is play No Man's Sky and try to circunavigate a planet there, it is totally doable, if you do it with you ship, the time it will take would depend on the altitude, but usually would take a couple of minutes to at least an hour. But if you go on foot it would depend on the planet size and how distracted you are, the first guy who did take had taken two weeks to do it, the last take 25 hours... so as you can see, the worlds were pretty massive on their own in NMS.

@yautjarelven437311 ай бұрын
I'm keeping my hype in check. I'll like this game if it is not a mile wide and an inch deep. It'll need challenging/dangerous things to do solo or with others, that would help player progression when conquered. Furthermore, the content cannot fall victim to the procedural generation issue of being too repetitive.
