Great video, thanks for posting. I've caught plenty of bass out there using lures but had no idea of the variety.

Really enjoyed your videos. I am hoping to visit Exmouth at the beginning of August along with my 7 year old Grandson and would like to spend a few hours LRF and wish to if could suggest some areas we could fish from and the best times to go.
@TedGreenBeachFishing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Definitely fish from the harbour wall carpark (be careful about paying promptly, as it's caught people out and you'll get a fine). Drop shot of the side works best or metal lures from the slipway at dusk will produce a few species, fish from high tide down as the current is to strong on an incoming tide for LRF. A trip over to Budleigh at dusk using metal's in calm, clear conditions will get you a few fish too 👍

Ian Firkins cheers. It's such a good spot to fish with fish of all shapes and sizes, and with that Goldsinny it takes my total up to 18 species caught from the Exmouth area just using the LRF gear.

Good morning, For my drop shot fishing and general lure fishing needs I have been using a Wychwood Alligator 8ft 10-60g rod. This fine for inland waters for Pike, Zander and but I feel it is too heavy for close in fishing off Exmouth Pier head or slipway so I I am looking at an alternative setup. I quite like the Tronix rods especially the HTO Aikido 1.98cm (6.ft 6in)1-5 gram model. Have you any recommendations or opinions please? Best regards Baz
@TedGreenBeachFishing3 жыл бұрын
I'll sometimes use a boat rod 12-20lbs and just beef everything up with a weak link to the weight if I'm after big Wrasse. Generally I'll use a 4 - 16 gram dropshot rod, 20lb braid with 20lb fluorocarbon and a size 2 hook for dropshot, this set up will allow me to catch the smaller species and be able to land a decent Ballan. Any of the LRF rods will do, depending on your budget, HTO is good or Majorcraft rods. Drop net is definitely worth getting for Exmouth.

Nice sport there Greg that salting of rag do you freeze it first before salting it? And what landing net is that please? Great vids

No freezing before, Salt them down as the are even the dead ones. It's the Diawa telescopic 5.9m landing pole with the Diawa tilt net.

Hi there, I meant to ask earlier what drop shotting weight size in grams do you use and are they lead.
@TedGreenBeachFishing3 жыл бұрын
I use the Fox brass dropshot weights, I can get them from my local tackle shop or online. The size depends on which rod I'm using, I normally use a weight that's in the middle of what the rod is rated, eg. 0.5 - 5gram LRF rod then I'll use a 3gram weight.
@barryconnerty20553 жыл бұрын
Hi there again, I notice in your videos that you appear to be drop shotting on one side of the slipway near the pier head car park whist mainly spinning/lure fishing from the sea wall side of the slipway. Is one side better for one type of fishing ? Cheers Baz
@TedGreenBeachFishing3 жыл бұрын
No, I'll dropshot or use a spilt shot rig if I want to fish on the bottom for Wrasse, Blenny, Scorpion fish, etc. and use metal's or soft plastic for fish higher up in the water column like Bass, Pollack and Garfish.

Would you catch any mackerel in them conditions?
@TedGreenBeachFishing5 жыл бұрын
Greg De-bakers probably not but you never know. Over high slack water on an evening tide would be worth a go in calm conditions, I've been catching Mackerel since May on an evening just before dusk at Budleigh but I don't use feathers, I use metals as that will get you Bass, Pollack, Gurnards and anything else that's chasing bait fish. 👍
