Light Stick Float Fishing on Hemp and Tares

James is fishing with a stick float, on a mission to see what he can catch from this new venue. Love this channel. Very few concentrate and show ‘traditional’ fishing these days that many of us grew up with. It’s all about commercials for most and makes me laugh when they are ‘struggling’ with about 80lb of fish. I remember growing up when working hard and making the changes you show James, like constantly changing depth, moving shot and scaling right down enabled you to winkle out 8 or 9lb which would invariable get you in the frame. Give me this over 300lb of carp all day long 👍

Great video james and crew. Refreshing to see this series of natural water and tactics. Old skool. Youngters and newbies to fishing should take note. The use of watercraft, finesse, shotting and constantly adpting to the fishes behaviour is key to keep the bites coming all day long. 👍

small stick float are hard to find in Belgium, except by ordering in Great Britain > so I use Versailles floats or small porcupines ... thank you for the videos, especially in the river, which allowed me to learn how to do it > also difficult to find someone able to show me this style of fishing (here almost no one fishes match in running waters)

Always watch your videos, definitely the most knowledgeable on all aspects float/ feeder or whatever but above all on the river , my question James is what’s the benefits advantages/disadvantages of using Eyed hooks against spade end on rivers more so 4 bigger fish ?

Hi! Thanks for the feedback. I use eyed hooks when river fishing for two main situations: - when tying a hair rig - using heavy hioklemgths (over 0.18mm typically). Spade ends can come undone when using heavier diameters and the spade can also cut the line. Cheers James
