Alpha Halo has fallen to the Flood, The Covenant have withdrawn from the surface and the remaining Human forces on the ring have been entirely annihilated or assimilated by the parasite....
The Master Chief and Cortana journey to the Pillar of Autumn's crash site where a fierce battle between the last Spartans-IIs, abandoned Covenant Spec Ops and Forerunner Sentinels takes place.
It's up to Master Chief to light the cruiser's engines and run away...as the Flood makes its presence be felt onboard...

Wow, when you got to that bit with Foehammer bursting into flames....ha ha haaa! Wow, that sucks. People often praise the first warthog run saying it's a great ending for a great game. Honestly I found driving the warthog through there to be very annoying. With the changes the mod made (mostly there being more enemies) it looks even harder now. Driving version 1 warthogs is like driving a go-kart with bald tires on icy pavement. Good on you for getting through it.
