Last time I flew on a 787, I took off from that exact runway. LAX to Tokyo on American. Love the 787 and the A-350's!

Would love to take that flight someday! Especially on an A350!

Those wings are in no way "flimsy" they can withstand several hundred thousand lbs of force up and down. The engines are held on by a shear pin thats almost a half foot in diameter of steel. That plane can structurally withstand more G forces than a human body can. They are incredibly strong and very reliable. Most pilots will fly an entire 30 year career and never experience an engine shutdown in flight.

Turbulence is probably due to the seabreeze coming off the ocean. Notice the turbulence died down once they were over the water and a few thousand ft up...

This particular occasion was a Santa Ana wind event. It smoothed out over the LA basin but it picked back up over the San Gabriel Mountains and continued until about Denver. I previously posted some of the turb we hit along the way. That video is linked in this one. Nothing crazy but you can see some wing flex.

Great video buddy. Do you remember what seat number this was? I’m on a United dash 10 in Polaris to Tokyo next month and would like this engine view!

It is a onboard united airlines feature, look for Chanel "9" or "from the cockpit" not all pilots turn it on. It used to be on all the time pre merger with continental

@SleeplessInSmileland that is not what you said when we were on this flight together in October. I remember you pointing out the wing flex and the aircraft being pushed around on the climb out and how the FA made the turbulence announcement at 10:10 in the video right after you hit your call button for another air sickness bag. No need to act tough in the comments now.
