It actually fits into the canon, since the reason L is suspicious of Light is because Light tries so DAMN hard to be normal, basically having an answer to everything L tries to throw at him, that it only makes Light look more suspicious. But by acting like a psycho in Palworld, Light lets his guard down for the first time, and ironically that makes him less likely to be a serial killer and more likely to be just your average mentally disturbed teen.
