Great feature, what value/diameter do you put in if the tumbler is tapered?

Do you plan to make that available also vor G-code Lasers with a variable z-Axis? That would be a great tool for convex items. Best regards Christian
@DeloresVasquezc Жыл бұрын
I I would say to your idea that you can do exactly that. I purchased a NEJE MAX 4 that has a motorized z-axis, modeled the cups through Fusion360, then imported the files into LaserGRBL and the motorized z-axis automatically adjusts the focus to the surface for surface engraving,I just did a test with a cup, and I think the other angles are fine, as long as they can be modeled.

We need the opposite of this for logos on cylinder objects done on the rotary to remove the optical illusion of it being compressed. Stretching the image overall helps a little but for those who know what we are looking at can notice it.

Is there a way to only use cylinder correction for one object or group, and use rotary for another ? Say i want to engrave a logo with cyl corr, and test to wrap around the cylinder with rotary? if not please implemet this, it would save TONS of time. @lightburn

I am wanting a backup to my fiber laser (for tumblers 100mm) and may have finally decided to go with CO2 galvo using this feature. what is the lowest recommended wattage Co2 that will work and be efficient? Trying to save up for really nice UV but want the look of CO2 on tumblers, with some speed and good looks. Also looking at one with beam expander 6X20 expander and 210 lens.

How do you save the Mirror distance? I set the value, ran a test, worked great. Disabled CC for normal engraving. Closed LB, opened LB and the settings had gone back to the default 100.0 mm mirror distance.
@lightburnsoftware7189 Жыл бұрын
What operating system are you using? Also, if you try it again is repeatable? I checked on my end closing the program and restarting the computer but it retained the mirror distance value.
@guyb7995 Жыл бұрын
@@lightburnsoftware7189 I worked out the problem, it saves it per Device. I had my 200mm lens device selected when I did the test, but when I open LB it always defaults to the 70mm lens device which was still at 100mm default. This begs the question, can I change the default device or even better have LB remember my last selection? Windows 11 latest LB versions.

QUESTION: On the Tumbler there is an area that expands from a smaller cylinder diameter near the bottom to a larger cylinder diameter near the top. Does light burn have any tools to calculate and adjust for an uneven surface that is different along the perpendicular axis from the cylinder? thx

QUESTION: On a rifle stock (assuming made with substrate that can be engraved with fiber such as polymer), the but end of the stock has a curved surface that is not a cylinder, is there a way to account for this curve to avoid the warping effect due to the increased focal length as the art moves away from a center line? thx
@lightburnsoftware71892 жыл бұрын
Technically the cylinder correction can be used on an object that does not form a full cylinder. You would just need to find out the diameter of the cylinder it would form if the curve continued. For a curved surface that is going to be your best bet to avoid the mentioned warping as you get further away from the focal distance.

CO2 is the type of laser, which is not relevant here. This works with galvo systems, whether they are CO2, fiber, etc. It does not work yet with gantry systems, which is likely what you meant.

sadly I have an EZcad3 board in my machine (so no project mark feature) but I use Lightburn to edit the majority of my files before I import them into EZcad3, I think it would be cool to just have an option on lightburn where it could distort your image using that same cylinder correction math and then be able to export the distorted image to another program and it work in a similar manner.

This is perfect for flasks, where their radius is too large for a rotary. However it would be WONDERFUL if y’all would add in a function for tapered glasses/tumblers so that the graphics come out correct. It’s been requested several times over the last couple years.
@lightburnsoftware71892 жыл бұрын
This Cylinder Correction Tool is specifically for Galvo lasers. It works well with tumblers. (That is primarily what I have been using it on here.) If the mentioned request has been over a couple of years it sounds like it is a different tool (perhaps for gantry machines?) since this was just released.
@OffGridOverLander2 жыл бұрын
@@lightburnsoftware7189 not talking about machine specific stuff, I’m talking about skew/perspective that other softwares have, including free options. Just like gunhappyie mentioned about. Your software NEEDS a skew/perspective function to deal with tapered shot glasses/tumblers etc. This has been a function that has been requested several times over the last 3 years on your website section for votes. Even if that function doesn’t address every little nook n cranny of what people want, at least give us people that keep paying for the updates a reason to keep paying, even if it’s “manual control perspective”. Software advances that are machine specific are great to those people with that specific machine, but USELESS to the rest of us.
