Watching this and other videos only increase my desire to really get involved with woodturning along with my woodcarving when I retire....this is truly a wonderful piece and a wonderful hobby

I have just started watching wood turning videos and have seen a number of different wood-workers. You are, by far, the most interesting and personable person I have watched so far. You take the time to explain what you are doing, and, where you find the products you use. Thanks for being an educator.

Watching this again! I so appreciate your detailed explanations and sense of humor! Keep sharing! I have collected a dozen or so insulators and will use this as my guide to turn my lighthouse ;-)

Tim, I stumbled on this video and really enjoyed it. Gave me an idea for a working lighthouse as a Christmas gift but I could find the same puck lights. Instead I found Evan Designs, they have an LED light and circuit designed for model lighthouses. All worked out great, I'll email you the image of the finished project.

Cool project. I did something on a bit larger scale five or so years ago and made it from a 4x4 and a cedar fence slat. Instead of the LED light you showed, I got one of the solar powered path lights off Amazon that looked like a lighthouse top. Looking back, not sure I would go through all that work again--especially all the individual siding shingles! LOL

Nice light house Tim, but I really like your angle gauge for sharpening. Best one I've seen, I'm buying one now.

Fantastic job Tim. I like the project. One idea for the top is maybe put a step like the bottom but just one. I'm going to follow your ideas an do one. Thank you.

Tim. I used a 1 inch led flashlight through the bottom and hung a glass bobble at the top. I found smaller flashlights on the Internet but you had to buy large quantities. Allows a smaller lighthouse.

Very nice light house Tim. Once I get my allowance and Christmas money lets talk about an American Beauty! Aww I'll probably get coal in my stocking. Seriously though I really enjoy your work. But I do want to upgrade lathes one of these days! Merry Christmas everyone.

CBN is "Cubic Boron Nitride" it's an extremely hard ceramic used to make grinding wheels of various grits and even bullet resistant plates for body armour.

I'd make a little recess for the insulator to set in so if bumped it wouldn't move and stay in the center. In my house everything get jostled at least once.
@hraun2berg8 жыл бұрын
I like that, have you cnsideret to turn in different sizes like smaller. I'm thinking for smaller lathes. Regards Júlíus

@AndrewArndts8 жыл бұрын
Tool Idea, how about a gauge that when figuring out what size tenon you need for a particular jaw size. yes they can be shop made with plywood, but one from metal would make life a touch easier.

I have heard that paduk can be a dangerous wood to work with. That you should have a breathing mask and strong ventilation due to the sawdust being harmful to inhale. Has anyone heard the same? I have worked with paduk and absolutely love it.

You never fully show anything, you constantly jump. We are on the back side of the tope then next we are on the bottom. I like your videos but they drive me crazy!! You tell these horrible jokes and then have to rush the ending. Makes no sense.
