Filmed in the early 1990's, this is Cromer Lighthouse. You get a tour of the Lighthouse plus what was the Keepers house. This video also contains several other interesting former Lighthouses along this coastline.
It also has a visit to a lighthouse that was going to be discontinued, but the locals had other ideas and bought it, kept it going and still run it as a functioning Lighthouse, Happisburgh.

Great video, used to holiday near to Happisburgh (for those unaware pronounced 'Haisborough') when would still been with Trinity House. Remember that battle to keep it operational for local craft due to the dangerous sand banks. Noticed it had lost the 'green tube' weight column, guess would have originally had one.

Thank you for that, yes the people of happisburgh fought a good battle there and kept their lighthouse. East Anglia is a lovely part of this country and as seen, has several lighthouses, stay safe.

Thanks Peter for sharing. Question about something I have now seen in many lighthouses in your videos, usually attached the to railings on the gallery outside the lantern are what looks the the eye pieces of binoculars pointing downwards, what an earth were they for?

If you mean the Y shape thingy, that will be where our fire escape system on lighthouses attaches to. It's a sort of braked pulley with a harness that lets you gently down the outside of the tower, I've never found anybody brave/daft enough to let me film them using it! stay safe.

Cromer is my local TH light, and one I have not been in! Would be such a gap filler! Winterton now has a proper lantern on it.

Yes it would be a shame not to visit, if that is still possible? I'm no longer sure if they open some of these lights anymore. Anyway, good luck and stay safe.

Myra Siely, one of the early Lighthouse Trustees at Happisburgh - sadly no longer with us. I have been involved with Happisburgh Lighthouse since the campaign to save it as a working lighthouse was initiated in 1988. Since 1999 have edited the twice-yearly Journal of the Friends of Happisburgh Lighthouse, and since 2007 I have also been Chairman of Happisburgh Lighthouse Trust - www.happisburgh.org/lighthouse

Cracking location, isn’t it? Spent most of my childhood holidays in Cromer and now have a place here. Love it! Thanks for replying!
