So, today’s video will amazed you with some very interesting facts, which may be you are not aware about.
In my previous video of kelvin… we talked about that what is kelvin & how much amount of kelvin we use generally at different places.
Today we are going to talk about the hidden concept of these lighting. In interior spaces, we use a lot of lighting like warm lighting, neutral lighting or cool lighting etc. & we use them mostly to enhance the designing & to make a space functional for the user.
But the real concept is much more than that. Its related to your body, to your good health. Yessss!!!!! Its surprising but it’s a fact.
So, before we understand the concept behind these lighting, we need to understand the natural rhythm of our body which is called… Circadian Rhythm.
Circadian Rhythm is a 24 hour cycle, which controls many essential functions of our body. In which, one of the most important function is to run sleep-wake cycle.
This cycle gets affected by light & darkness mainly with some other factors also. When our eyes feels light or darkness, they send some signal to the brain about the timing and our brain respond in that way. If it gets the signal of light, it release a chemical named cortisol & makes our body alert. If it gets the signal of darkness, It release melatonin & makes us feel sleepy. & that’s how we feel active in light & sleepy in darkness.
So, now you got the point that how our body respond to light & darkness. In ancient time, we were having only natural light means the sunlight. So this circadian rhythm is actually connected to sunlight. In previous time, it was so easy to wake up at sunrise & to sleep at sunset.
But now we don’t have that much of luxury of natural lighting as our lifestyle has been change a lot. We mostly spend our time in a closed space with artificial lighting. Although, its artificial lighting, still it affects our body in same way. It depends, how you use it & choose it.
Now understand how it effects us…. Actually the lighting we use in interior like warm or cool is basically mimic the sunlight. When we sun rises.. it shows colors of warm light… then warm white… after some time it goes to neutral lighting. In midday it shows cool lighting & after that again it goes to neutral & then to warm lighting. So these lights are to represent the sunlight in our closed spaces.
If we use it properly, we can still maintain our circadian rhythm in a better way. So, THIS IS REAL PURPOSE OF THESE LIGHTING. And the sad part is most of us are unaware about it.
