Is RTX a must-have or will any video card work?

I have 2 1080ti and it works with that model

It uses DXR, so it needs a GPU which supports hardware accelerated ray tracing.

@@SINfromPL I'm not sure I follow. RTX is quite new. Do you mean it won't be useful to a lot of people as they might not have an RTX card?

@@25knightcrawler unity had support for gpu light building for long long time, and it doesn't require rtx. Now i need a rtx card that is primarily mean for real time lighting, to bake the lighting?

I get tons of crashes with GPU lightmass using an RTX 2080ti, tried updating all of my drivers but still crashes constantly. is there a way to use GPU lightmass without RTX features as well?

Did you figure out why? I have RTX 3080 Ti and have same issue ?

I have the RTX2070 Super and it crashes a lot when I edit any material. The solution was changing to Directx11, but still I haven't tried the bake that way.

Ok, but whats next? There are virtual shadow maps AND lights continue slowing system? How to use only this virtual maps NOT continuing lights emitting?

It's just faster light baking, so I don't think the target platform matters.

a prerequisite of this is seemingly ray tracing, so i assume no.

you will have to use CPU based raytracing. You should be able to get the same results, but will be slower baking on cpu. Just use the traditional build lightmass settings

is it absurd to have Lumen active as Global Illumination method while using GPULM? I'm trying to figure out all these terms and their overlaps, limitations and rigid usages

You can adjust the quality of any KZbin video by clicking on the gear on the play bar

I noticed that volumentric lightmass is noisy as hell when its computed with gpu lightmass, compared with cpu.

No, there will be alot of games made with baked lightings for more fps Lumen is 50 fps when a baked scene is 120+fps with my rtx3070 gpu

@@Dhieen baked scene dosent look as good as lumen. And lumen is dynamic, its way beyond baking.

@@Dhieen not at all, they also said lumen will have more features than baked ray tracing in the official release.

@@LivingTheDream77 wrong, your words are groundless. On static images, baked lighting will always be better than Lumen. The only downside are screen space reflections, lumen reflections are a lot better.

Yes. But if you still want to optmize your project, the baked lighting system with static lights will be aways the better option in performance.
