Lighting Your Dart Frog Vivarium

So you can just lay these strip lights over the glass top and they will be safe, correct? And they wont make the vivarium too hot inside for the dart frogs? I am building my first vivarium and I'm taking my time doing lots of research before I get my first dart frog(s). I want to make sure I do everything correctly.

Nice video Travis, Here is my method for fruit fly catching, not sure if it's the same. You'll need plastic water bottles 0.5 1/8 gallon be fine, Hot water not boiling. Vegemite-something hi in vitamin b and large yeast extract (its sticky) Cloudy ammonia-if you want to add a pesticide Sugar Per bottle 2T sugar, 1T Vegemite 1T cloudy ammonia if using as a pesticide, half fill with water, I use the hot water to dissolve the ingredients, it cools down when your making multiple bottles. Hang from fruit tree Replace fortnightly

I don't use fly traps but I hear beer, vinegar or wine in a bottle will attract them pretty well.

How much whattage is necessary for 35cm long terrarium. Only plants like fern, moss etc

That's a hard question to answer considering wattage doesn't always equal brightness especially with the LED's on the market today. I would recommend any light that has a color temperature of 6500K and honestly you just have to experiment there are so many options for lights.

My house is kept 70-73 and feels cold so idk how to heat cause lights while dry out the enclosure?

For plant growth and color.. does it matter if theres red or blue LED's? I bought an LED light from HD and it lit up very reddish pink. I dont want that lol nor do I want a tank with a blue look. Would the current usa led be a good light? I currently use jungle dawns but im planning on turning a 55gal into a large viv so i need strong lighting for my plants. Help! Lol

Hi, I have two 20 gallon aquarium converted on their side standing up long ways. I was wondering what option would you suggest to light these tanks they stand side by side, and I’m looking for cheap but effective lights. No uvb needed I’m just trying to aid the plants that I will be adding In

Your cheapest option would probably be some dome lamps with screw in LED bulbs, you'll want to get something with a descent wattage as 20 gallons on their end are quite tall.

I do provide UVB for some of my frogs and all frogs can benefit from some exposure to UVB but most frogs are able to live without UVB as long as Vitamin D3 is provided in their diet for Calcium uptake.
