For the guy who wanted the list. Lightnin’ is arguably the best, but try; Leadbelly, son house, skip james, blind willie mc tell, blind willie Johnson, scrapper Blackwell, blind lemon Jefferson and Robert Johnson. They are all acoustic blues guitarists which is what was used in this song. Many of them have more of a delta blues style though. Lightnin went through phases like many of them as blues evolved when electric became more accessible. If you prefer the more modern sounding style and electric blues; muddy waters, howlin wolf, John lee hooker, Elmore James. For lightnin song suggestions, baby please don’t go, black ghost blues, nothin but the blues, mojo hand. Hopefully that helps. My Credentials: 18 years of blues guitar and studying of the different styles.

I know all these guys you mentioned. There is much more out there waiting to be rediscovered. L.H. and skip James and blind Willie Johnson just happen to be among the many favorites besides Eddie Son House and R.J. this was how you played the guitar. The best in the world until the blues got electrified during the post war blues Era. I'm a howlin wolf guy myself. Humbert Sumlin was a fantastic guitar player.

I owned records by all of them. I was lucky to make friends at 12 with a black kid named James Combs. His father was a big blues fan. He also had Bill Haley and the Comets. Just a great friend who’s family opened my eyes in the time of the Beatles to real American music. Lightning stood out to me from the first. He put it all together on a plate for everyone to enjoy
