Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII-Aeronite [

The strongest enemy in the game is shown here defeated under these conditions:
• Normal, New Game, Day 7-the first day on which Aeronite spawns, when garbs such as Splendid Admiral, Martial Monk, and Equilibrium+ are inaccessible.
• 2 items, 0 EP used-nothing more and nothing less.
• No Last One rewards-one Wyvern Lance and three Ghostly Blooms purchased, no other weapon or shield purchases made.
• No synthesis-all non-locked abilities are from chests or dropped by enemies at Level 1.
• No DLC or any preorder/demo bonus garbs or equipment.
Regarding schemata:
• Thundara (one from a chest, two dropped by Hanuman) on every schema for fast staggering.
• Quiet Guardian to tank all damage. Defaith + Perfect Guard reduces Hellflare's damage to the point where the two potions used will fully heal you to maximize score.
• In this fight, Miqo'te Dress is superior to Soldier of Peace at this stage of the game. Magic Slash is the key to your offense due to the way damage calculation works. Given that Aeronite becomes weak to both physical and magic during the final stagger, this ability's multipliers are huge. Also, the lack of synthesis makes Heavy Slash not very cost-effective at Level 1.
• Amazon Warrior for staggering and "downtime damage" while Miqo'te Dress recharges. A fully upgraded Level 2 Heavy Slash will make Soldier of Peace a better option for damage, but the starting ATB is better for staggering quickly at the beginning.
The execution is not flawless, but this is a proof of concept for efficiency, with a bonus of some nicely color-coded schema styles. You can win much more easily on a later day with better inventory, or if you use more items/EP.

For those curious on why he likely goes with -ra magic instead of -ga: -ga magic is too slow, and not very efficient when it comes to ATB management and staggering. You aren't trying to damage Aeronite early on - you just want to Stagger him as fast as possible. You only have 3 minutes to do so, each stagger. After the 3 minutes are up, he leaves the battle ["Fed Up"] and regenerates all of his health. -ga magic is powerful, but doesn't hit nearly as much as -ra since you can only ever use 1 -ga spell at a time, they act like finales. -ra spells can be fired off 3 or 4 times in a row - much more cost effective.

Same here. I was reading a forum thread (where I found the link to this video), and apparently magic slash works even better than Soldier of Peace's Artemis Arrows. There's virtually no indication in the game that magic slash would be this damn good, but clearly it is.

Insane! Will try this tonight. Try your previous strategy with Ereshkigal but took around 4m and 0 star, maybe because I didn't hit combo smoothly, needed 2 waves of 3 staggers to end it. Doesn't matter anyway, the joy of victory is too sweet, thank you!

Thank you so much for making this guy very easy. I fought him on my 1st playthrough in Normal mode around the 10th/11th day using a strategy similar to this. I had Miqote Dress equip Morgenstern (a good +1300 STR stat) dealing 300k-600k damage and the Locket Pendant for double finale damage. Also, I bought the Shadow Trooper instead of the Amazon Warrior because it had Stagger Boost (raised my damage a lot) and have it equipped the Chaos Revenge. Took me 2 tries to actually beat him though. I had to use 1 ether because I needed to spam overclock to kill him much quicker.

genius pure and simple genius... I didn't think about the quiet guardian's innate magic defense.... mixed in with the ring and the hood its 100% magic resistant. technically you could use this against the opposite on future fights if you replace the preta with ghostly and add a physical resistant item against enemies that favor physical attacks

Can someone explain how he does the "flip animation" multiple times in a row by switching garb? I am using the same setup as him, and I've only managed to do it once. My Miqo'te (like his) has the accessorry that ads an extra magic combo finale, but I'm not sure what the timing is when switching to make them all do magic finales, like he does. Anyone?

We have Soul of Thamasa equipped to Amazon Warrior, not Miqo'te Dress. That may be why you are having trouble. No special timing is needed. Just hit the button to cast the second finale spell when in Amazon Warrior. You do need to be using the same exact spell for this to work. Using a different spell will reset the combo.

I am on Day 10 of a Normal Mode, New Game, currently, but still can't beat this dragon. I am using Soldier of Peace, with Seagod's Spear and Il Nome Della Rosa. Accessories are Warrior Hunter's Mask and Enlister's Gloves. Abilities are Shadowbind Lv. 3, Heavy Slash Lv. 2, and Aerora Lv. 2. Miqo'te Dress, with Flesh Render and Iseult's Lament. Mage Hunter's Mask and Tenacious Ring. Defaith Lv. 2, Mediguard+ Lv. STAR, Magic Slash Lv. STAR, and Aerora Lv. 3. And finally, Quiet Guardian, with Wyvern Lance and Dame du Lac. Preta Hood and Runic Ring. Deprotect Lv. 3, Heavy Guard Lv. 2, Imperil Lv. 3, and Aerora Lv. 2. Any advice? I have most outfits available at my point in the game, if not all. I also have most weapons, most accessories, and have defeated every Last One available so far. Every quest and side quest is completed, just about. Anything I should switch around? Different accessories, maybe? I am really having trouble, and advice would be much appreciated!

I made my own setup. But i used Artemis arrows and whirlwind kick. I put one stronger punt in and used an equipment that made my perfect timings Easy. Then i had Quiet Guardian with magic immunity, Imperil, Max level Heroic guard for megaton break. Had aerora. Soldier of peace with deprotect, Fira, Heavy slash. Whirlwind kick with thundara and one strong punt. I used chaos revenge on Whirlwind kick and a strengh Shield. Same with soldier of peace but max level crimson blade, have max strenght out on it. On quiet Guardian you can have a pretty weak shield. Since Heroic guard will do the job, have a shield that boosts your atb rate. After the final stagger. Use a bravery potion and overclock with artemis arrows to reset atb gauge. Then get deprotect in and spam artemis arrows, when you have no atb left. Switch to whirlwind kick, Then artemis arrows. Tips: Use imperil to stagger aeronite faster. Whenever aeronite lifts his head and is about to use a magnet spell, switch to quiet Guardian to defend then cast aerora. If you have no ep in the final stagger, Use a refresher. Dont spam whirlwind kick to fast, press 2 Times per Second to increase the damage done by it. Keep your distance from aeronite so his physical attacks or roar dont reach. Use a fog resistence accesory. When you cast your tier 2 spells. Switch a paragidm before lighting does a backflip, this give aeronite less time to recover. You can hovewer do a backflip with aerora if aeronite attacks at the same time. Aeronite can still attack while he is staggered so switch to quiet Guardian if needed. Hope this helped! My strat worked way better than this strategy. Btw i did this in hard mode.

I've already beaten all main quests, including Yusnaan's, and I'm wondering if I can still obtain it afterwards if I talk to the last Chocobo Girl I haven't talked to? I don't have a third Thundara. (Unlucky with the Hanuman) What would be the best replacement, Fira or Aerora? Also, in the description, you mentioned SoP being a better option than Amazon Warrior as long as you have at least a maxed Lvl.2 Heavy Slash right? Definitely going to use this strategy.... once I can figure out your accessory setup.

No, you can use Bravery or Warrior's Potions. But be more mindful of your ATB in that case, or Overclock once or twice, because the Haste from the Hero's Potion is a big deal. As for your other question, use Aerora x3, not Thundara x2 + Aerora. The whole point is to have three of the same spell. Aerora is the easiest -ra spell to farm, so that's recommended.

You can find it in a treasure sphere in the Giant's Sandbox. Try along the northwest wall. It definitely drops from enemies as well because I have numerous copies.

Put Flesh Render on Miqo'te and a Shard Blade on Amazon and you should be fine. The biggest issue is going to be your lack of Quick Stagger, so consider Overclocking if you're having trouble staggering.

I know this is a late comment, but I just wanted add my two cents on here. I've watched this video about a couple dozen times, and still get my ass kicked by Aeronite using this strategy. First of all, I've found it impossible not to get caught by his "black hole" ability. Perfect Guard does protect from its standard magic abilities, but roar still goes through and I'm damaged by it. Part of me believes that this video was from a modded game. I really find it difficult to believe that Aeronite doesn't damage you once.

The gravity attack has five hits. You need to be in a magic immune garb for all 5 hits in order to not get pulled in, so plan on staying in the immune garb for a while. If you don't get pulled in, you don't have to worry about Roar. This is a video of the real game. Personally, I think avoiding getting pulled in is the hardest part of the fight, but once you can figure out the tells for the attack, it is easy to avoid.

Destrian I got close today, reaching the fourth stagger, but the Magic Slash wasn't exactly working as fluidly as the video shows and it got "Fed Up". One thing I've been using to stagger was Aerora instead of Thundara. It's still incredibly frustrating. I even have Equilibrium+ garb and still isn't as easy as the video makes it look.

spotter121877 Sounds like you were missing something if Magic Slash wasn't working effectively. The ability is insanely powerful. Did you make sure to use an Enspell Potion for double damage? Were you inflicting Deprotect and Imperil regularly? The Hero's Potions are nice but they really aren't necessary as long as your Miqo'te is decently strong. The one in the video is actually pretty weak since this is only Day 7. Buying a Morgenstern helps a lot. Using Aerora instead of Thundara doesn't matter.

This didn't work at all for me and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I can't stagger him nearly as quickly, I'm constantly out of ATB, and when I finally get to the fourth stagger my damage is a fraction of yours even though I have all the right buffs and an even higher attack stat. I'm done with this boss, I can't get anything to work and it's getting really old. EDIT: GOT IT! I needed to use overclock a lot more liberally but the basic strategy held. Thanks for the guide!

Okay, so I figured out most of it, except for ONE thing. How are you managing to do so much damage with Magic Slash? I have only gotten to do approx. 40K damage per strike, when you're hitting 70K and 80K. I got him to MAYBE a twentieth of HP, if even that. But then he was "FED UP" and flew away. Really pissed me off, but it's because I am not doing as much damage. I am already using Deprotect and Deshell. Anything else?

Nah, I didn't. But I managed to defeat him in a few more tries, with nothing but an Ether and two Hi-Potions. Just had to work on my execution, and I used Overclock three times. Wasn't too bad; once my execution of blocks and attacks was solid, it was quite the cakewalk.

wow i must just be bad i cant even get him to the first stagger. following the guidebook strategy and i guess you're supposed to get those finales, but im constantly having to guard or he just interrupts me and by the time im launching a spell his stagger has already reset.

You aren't supposed to guard. Just keep casting. Switch to your magic immunity garb to prevent damage. You'll want to manually guard Hellfire and Megaton Break's first hit, but don't guard anything else.

You should set up magic immunity as shown. The finales help a lot to stabilize the stagger wave. You don't absolutely need magic immunity to pull them off but it's harder when you have to worry about guarding. With magic immunity, you never have to guard regular spells as long as you switch to Quiet Guardian as they hit.

Yeah, don't do that. I've found that it is a bit easier to just use Aerora instead since I tend to be swimming in copies of that ability. You want three -ra abilities with the same name to make this work efficiently.

you can, it's actually recommended on the prima guide because of the garb equilibrium+ but be careful if you plan on facing ereshkigal and meonikton omega. Unlike the other days, time actually flows normally on fights in that dungeon

BeeCreativeStudios I just did this on my last day as well (Day 13 - not Day 12), and this worked. By the time you get to Day 13, use Equilibrium+ in place of Amazon Warrior. It's crazy, but the Quiet Guardian tanking damage and Miqu'to Dress worked for me on the second try. I did have to track down a Hero's potion and I did have to use a full EP gauge in Overclock along with one ether to do it which I assume is the difference in fighting him on Day 13 instead of Day 7.

His first schemata includes Quiet Guardian garb (Physical & Magic Resistance +15%), Preta Hood Accessorie (Magic Resistance +75%) and Runic Ring accessorie (Magic Resistance +10%). That totals to 100% Magic Resistance

Our Quiet Guardian garb has been set up to be immune to magic damage. Check the setup shown in the video for more details.

No, we do it using certain garbs and accessories. Preta Hood gives 75% resistance, Runic Ring gives 10% resistance, and Quiet Guardian gives 15% resistance. That's 100% magic resistance total.

What sucks is I tried to stagger this bastard so many damn times using the strategy guide method and some of the stuff on youtube, but nothing seems to work. Am I doing something wrong? Maybe I can't beat him after all. :(

Hmm. For some odd reason. (I am fighting him on day 8) It has this skill where he can pull me close to him and then it cast Roar. I don't seem to seen it in your video. I am also just fighting him on easy mode. It's nasty. I still haven't beat this ugly thing and I am going on my 5th try... lol

That's the "black hole" move. He does use this in the video, but it has no effect because I don't take any damage thanks to magic immunity.

+Mashiro Yuuki Make sure you are using the setup shown at the end of the video. Quiet Guardian needs Preta Hood and Runic Ring equipped for full magic immunity.

I have magic immunity in Quiet Guardian. If you don't take damage, no disruptive effects occur. This isn't limited to natural immunity. If I didn't have immunity, but guarded the "black hole" attack and took no damage from any of the hits, I wouldn't be drawn in either.

Etro's Gate Great skill you have broski! but question im on day 10 and using the same set up as you I can get him to 3rd stagger but I end up using my drive lots of times lol im trying to not do that honestly and was wondering does his skill get higher as the days progress? will I need better equip? cause right now he is doing me in its hardly as fresh as your battle bro lol

The "Official Strategy Guide" doesn't provide very good strategies... plain and simple... I found this out when fighting the final boss fourth form, I ended up doing a lot of reading to figure out a decent strategy to beat it.... Here you have the convenience of somebody else doing the thinking for you... and they've provided a video to show it works lol... Whats my point? Refer to the guide book for quests, maps, locations, etc ... if the book gives you a strategy... tell it to fuck off.
