Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII Walkthrough Part 38
The last battle in this trilogy is God: Bhunivelze. You will need to have perfected staggering to defeat him. I did this pretty easily because this is New Game+ and have upgraded my swords and shields to the max. The 4th form of Bhunivelze is the hardest, since you need to stagger him to defeat him. Aerora is the best magic to stagger (you would think Aeroga but it's too slow). Don't be afraid to use Overlock to build up the stagger meter, but also don't forget to block Heartless Angel or else your HP will go down to 1. I will make a separate video for this boss on Hard without Limit Break later on.

Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII Description:
The world of Gran Pulse is sinking into the sea and what remains is now called Nova Chrysalia, a world diseased by Chaos. Made up of four regions (Luxerion, Yusnaan, The Wildlands, and Dead Dunes), a monorail provides transportation for travel throughout this realm. With only thirteen days remaining until the end of the world, Chaos reigns in a world that never ages. New life cannot be born. People need salvation. As Lightning, it is your mission to save as many souls as possible so that they may be brought to the new world. Along the journey, you will encounter familiar faces and engage new foes in all new lands. You must ultimately choose which souls to save and which to abandon and fully understand Lightning's true destiny. The final game in the trilogy -- it all ends here.

I must say, I loved the game and this epic battle, but I always felt that we should have had a fight against Pulse and Lindzei as well (besides them turning into Bhuni's scythe). Bhunivelze: "I shall be a god amongst you, almighty and -->ALL KNOWINGI do not know.

Bhunivelze admitted he didn't understand the human souls as they were; his plan was to purge them and bend them to his will so that he WOULD know them--since they'd just be extensions of himself. That's what he meant when he said he'd be all knowing.

Thanks for the help. Now I know how to get pass Bhuni's last phase. We just need to throw stupid amount of magic to stagger him while blocking all of his attacks. Once he is staggered, one overclock should finish him.

Stage 4 was quite frustrating, until i realized that stagger slowly builds up. First i always tried to instant stagger him because the quickly disappearing staggline. ... but it does not disappear totally. A small ammount remains, and by constant punching one can stagger him even without EP.

I was either thinking if i should start new game plus or just try to fight him again in normal mode, i still have few healing potions and some EP left when i reach him but staggering him is so annoying since he attacks every 3 seconds and only have some break when he summons 2 angels. Plus i wasn't able to defeat that L'Cie boss in dead dunes so i have no ultima weapon...

Quite late, but you need to defeat bhunivelze to start ng+, and the ultima weapon and shield are acquired by completing the 4 trials before entering the chamber of creation.

@@aeroconz I never finished the game and was allowed to start NG+. In fact, you cannot even beat him on the first playthrough. It's not possible to stagger him enough.

@@Judah_Katzenberger beated him with no DLC garbs , it's rly easy once ya get the hang of the match I remember using soldier of piece with Ultima wep but instead guard /evasion just aerora Then martial monk with masamune and thundara (had no aeroras left) And as last garb the etro's knight with caius wep , deprotect , imperil and aerora with the accessory that gives you 75% physical DMG reduction Just reserve your 8 EPs for the last phase and you're gold

@@Judah_Katzenberger yes you can beat god in your first playthrough, but need to have at least 40 secondary mission completed and complete the trials to obtain the Ultima weapon. Also, you need to use normal Magic attacks in the final phase not aero+ since that uses more of your stamina bar.

Quick question, how the fuck did you get 9 Ep and how did you go in with only 6EP but recipe rated 3 more at the start of the battle? I went in with 3ep and only made it to the 2nd stage

Bhunivelze was the easiest boss battle I ever fought and without dying, I swear fighting Aeronite and Ereshkigal took me a long time t fight them and win after 3 to 4 rounds.

Im at the end of this game.. I dont have any weapon/shield fully upgraded.. I didnt do ultimate lair (still have a save file where im in the lair) Im still wondering if I should get the sword and shield? remember this is my first run.. on normal mode. Whats the setup to kill him/stagger him fast?

So, I'm screwed. I have no EP left I had a full 6 out of 8 bars when I entered his 4th form...I've been trying to stagger this asshole for almost 3 hours? What should I do? I used all of my remaining EP on his 4th form. And have been perfect guarding for a long ass time. I'm sorta sick of this fight. I really enjoyed the rest of the game, but this is freaking ridiculous!

Damn well, that was a late response! I actually did beat him, and I did it without EP! I just went aggressive on him in stage one, Defensive with mediguard on stage 2 and 3, then saved all my recovery items for stage 4 so that I could build up the stagger bar by being defensive with a healing stance, then switching to aggressive when I was ready to stagger him, and with that, I eventually beat him.

I was underleveled, bro. This was my first RPG. Plus, I just didn't pick up on any of the gameplay mechanics. Didn't really know how to stagger. But now, I've heavily revised my strategies and gained an understanding of the game. I can now beat him in three minutes with a glass cannon and debuffing schemata.

Except that Bhunivelze doesn't want Lightning to kill him. He wanted her to become the Goddess of Death to replace Etro and remove all the human souls for him; killing him is not in his plans.

@@geriond6378 Also, regardless whether or not Bhunivelze wanted to die, he still got everything he wanted from her. She collected the souls, because the new god of death, and the new planet was made with all the collected souls. The other reference in my OP was to the first and second games where both bad guys want you to kill them. First to drop cocoon. Second to release chaos. Baddies literally explain their plan, and the heroes do it anyway. You can't even say "oops".

@@CthulhuTheory He didn't get what he wanted; if all he wanted was a new universe with renewed people and environment, he could have done that himself. What he wanted was to strip everyone of their souls (which he couldn't do on his own because he can't see their souls himself), take the new soulless husk of humanity, and build a new world for them like that, which he would then rule over himself with no possibility of any free will from any of humanity. Not only did Lightning refuse to purge the souls like he wanted her to, but then she turned on him and killed him. The only reason he was encouraging her before their fight was because he was planning on having her awaken as the Goddess of Death during their fight, and then he'd beat her down and force her to do what he wanted. Her actually besting him was most definitely not something he wanted, and it foiled all of his plans.
