Lightning strikes the train, Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Train Accident, Damage Train , Vande Bharat

The Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express was hit by lightning and a hailstorm on Sunday, May 21, 2023. The train was stranded at the Baitarani Road railway station for over two hours, but all passengers were safe. The train's windscreen was cracked and the glass windows of some compartments were damaged. The overhead electric wire was also damaged by an uprooted tree. The train was eventually towed to Howrah station by a diesel engine.
The Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express is a semi-high speed train that was launched in February 2023. The train has a top speed of 160 km/h and it takes around 10 hours to travel between Puri and Howrah. The train is equipped with modern amenities, including Wi-Fi, CCTV cameras, and LED screens.
