I could not sleep one time then I told my pranets and then I went back and before I went to go to bed the EaS came on at 2Am and I told my pranets again and my dad said I can get on my phone. That scared me and then I watched Thomas memes.

I find myself coming back to this video often. Most of the storms that come through my area very rarely show rotation, and the ones that do don’t really materialize into any sort of tornado touchdown or anything like that. The amount of warnings that you get and how often they intensify is something I can’t really fathom. Thank you for capturing these over the years ❤

one of my favorite EAS's of yours is Real NOAA Weather Radio EAS Alert #273 + TV EAS Alert (severe thunderstorm with golf ball size hail, hurricane force winds of 80 mph, moving SSW and exhibiting rotation)

Very scary indeed! When I was in 5th grade (about 14 years ago) we had a tornado warning right as school was getting out. I think I just barely made it home in time but thankfully the tornado wasn’t near us.

How do you know when these eas will be on tv and radio to capture them?

DiamondDealer I monitor the weather forecasts and I know that if there's severe weather in the forecast, then there's a good chance my radio will be going off that day, so I'm just prepared to start recording at any time. If the Tornado Warning is close enough to my area, that's when I also get the alerts on TV. The TV alerts usually come about 10 seconds after the alert has ended on the weather radio.

When they disseminate them on NOAA Weather Radio or the EWINS(Enhanced weather information) system the alerts go through a sort of "chain of command", as in they first hit Noaa weather radio/EWINS then the Emergency Alert System picks up those attention beeps/header tone and activates itself and then playback the emergency message that was sent out over NOAA Weather Radio/Primary Entry Point Station. Sometimes, they are several links in the chain, so one station(usually a AM/FM radio station) will be designated as the "Local Primary" will send out the EAS message to all stations on it's "network", those stations take the LP's feed and replay the message on their stations. If the LP-1 fails, there is a backup station with a backup feed of the Emergency Alert System called the Local Primary-2(another AM/FM station in the area) that will serve as a backup to the LP-1 and dissemnate the EAS message should the LP-1 fail. There is also a third station called the "Primary Entry Point" usually a 50,000 watt AM station that serves as a regional relay for "National Alert" messages that will disseminate an EAS message that comes from Washington D.C. in the case of a National Emergency(a presidental message), and in rural areas, the NPR station will serve as the Primary Entry Point. To say this, you can usually time out when they will hit your local cable system or AM/FM local station and record them after they hit NOAA Weather Radio/EWINS and play out on your local cable system AM/FM local. You can also just record NOAA Weather Radio and anticipate the message during a severe weather event. The EAS equipment that is used to dissemenate the messages over the EAS system is called a EAS modulator/demoudulator, it "listens" for those EAS messages and plays them out over the system. There is also a specialized feed in certain areas that will hit a cable system from the "Emergency Operations Center" where a EOC manager can send out their own personal messages about an "Event". It's a fairly complex system to say the least. If my memory serves me correctly 720 WGN AM is the LP-1/780 WBBM AM is the LP-2 for Cook County,Illinois and 890 WLS AM is the Primary Entry Point Station for all of Illinois and some parts of Indiana and Wisconsin and WTMJ 620 AM/WKTI 94.5 FM are both LP-1 and WSSP 1250 AM/WMYX 99.1 FM are both the LP-2 for Milwuakee/Sullivan,Wisconsin and 830 WCCO AM Minneapolis,Minnesota is the Primary Entry Point for all of Minnesota, some parts of Wisconsin, some parts of Illinois and some parts of Michigan.

In the past year, Indianapolis has only had two tornadoes. On June 15th 2019, a Tornado Warning was issued for SE Marion and SW Hancock. I was telling my dad about it but after the first sentence, our phones went off. On April 8th 2020, a Tornado Warning was issued for SW Marion, Morgan, Rush, and Shelby counties. I was in the shower. I got out of the shower, and I heard strong winds. I wrap a towel round my waist and I go downstairs to see whats going on. I come down to the EAS on my screen saying "Tornado Warning". I rush upstairs, put on clothes, grab my radio, and I dart downstairs and sit down to watch the news. I then found out its not for *my* part of the county, then I go upstairs, and I record multiple Severe Thunderstorm Warnings.

Would the #2 be counted as a tornado emergency? I know it was created and in use by then and it had the wording of a tornado emergency. I’ve never heard them say “this is an emergency situation”. I guess it depends on the amount of people in the direct path of the tornado but I wouldn’t know the big cities in northeastern Illinois as I’m from Maryland.

In New Jersey, nothing really happens when it comes to Tornadoes. The last time New Jersey has a Tornado was last year on June 24th and an EF0 or EF1 tornado hit Howell Township, NJ near a Home Depot. There’s a video of it on KZbin if you want to see it and I have the Tornado Warning captured and the video of that is on my channel. It was pretty crazy and the Tornado Warning was conducted at 6am which made it a little more scary and it was also issued for my County ‘Mercer’
